I am soo excited, and alittle nervous! I know I will do fine, I do good on stuff like that.
BUT, I haven't been to a job interview in well over four years I have been to interviews for other types of things, liek volunteer position and going to interview *people* for school... but that summer job I was recommended by that counties Director of Special Services School District so I didn't need one, and my current job is kinda with family.
So, I really only had a 'job interview' for Taco Bell back when I was 16 years old. Haha.
I don't know if I like how this place is run... they already lost my resume and it never made it to the woman interviewing me.
I am sure I will be fine! I am so excited!

Hi Sheri! Congrats on getting the interview, that's great! I think an interview is an interview, so it sounds like you have had experience with the whole process so you can be confident about that! What is the job you are going for? Anyway, I hope that it works out and you get a really fab job! My fingers are crossed for you! --Steph

Ooops, didn't check back on the thread... BUt to answer questions...
yes, Tina, I did dress nice with sensible makeup, I looked like such the professional! I got an outfit from New york & Company (don't know if you know what that is, you Canada-ite you)
the interview was this morning, it is a tiny elementary autism program/school, ages 5-8 , it is part of a BIG non profit organization, that pretty much aides people with autism and other disabilities from preschool to death, they even have adult residential programs and facilities.
I applied for a teaching assistant postition, same thing I did this summer, except my children were alittle older, alot bigger, and alot more violent.
Melissa, you definately heard the name of the place, it is very big around here, anyone in that field has workjed there... i will email you the name and town, after different 'events' that happened on here before, I don't like to post too many narrowed down info. actually this place even has out of state locations, I think the furthest is Louisiana.
Judging by what staff wore today, dress code is gonna be very low, there were sneakers and sweatpants everywhere! I guess whatever helps you to keep up with the little guys, huh?
It is very cramped and low budget place, alot different from my last school, but has a lot of heart, and they obviously make do with what they got, ya know?
ANYWAYS, the woman was tlaking pretty much like I was hired and said I was gonna be hearing from HR, and I aksed how long would I hear, and would they tell me either way, and she said definately by Friday, and if not to call them.
She told me upfront that I was an excellent canidate, and they are very understaffed 9she has to hire six assistants), and she had alot more interviews, but she was definately putting me through, it is now gonna be a matter of HR making me the job offer and me accepting it, and them going through my reference checks, and then me getting my physical and TB shots and fingerprints. What is good is that I am ahead on that, I had fingerprinting done for the other school, and that is a one time in your life for the state of NJ deal, I had TB tests done less than a year ago, when I was gonna volunteer there, and the physical. So, if they accept my physical and TB shots, then I can start almost right away, and begin training. What I like about this place it is a lot of training and specific beahvioral plans and techniques for the kids, the last job was a 'learn as you go sink or swim' thing.
The woman was impressed that I am pursuing higher education and want to kinda start out and go places, she is all about higher education. She even sets up for staff to get FREE university courses on site if they want them!
And there are other learning programs and schooling you can take to learn there program better and you get a .50 cent raise each time. And 75% tuition reimbursement. And the health benefits are excellent. Pay is not so good, but she told me the range, and it will be alittle better than I had thought it would be, especially since my BF just scored an awesome paying job.
Good news all around! Things are really looking up... and to be cheesy and corny for alittle bit...
THE VERY FIRST STEP TO ALL OF THIS ....
getting my IBS under control by finding this site and all the wonderful people and support here.
Heather, any sucess I will ever have in my life I really have to owe to you!

Good luck, sweetie! I want to teach em and you want to just be amazingly there for them. We'd make a good team. Autism is a fascinating disorder to work with, and the people just melt your heart.
GOOD luck, but it sounds liek you won't need it.

Still waiting! If I don't hear from HR by Friday I am supposed to call. Grrr. Hopefully they have my apartment number ( they SHOULD) cause my cell phone was on the fritz earlier and I didn't have voice mail or caller id for most of the day.
Not worried yet!
