I'm so excited, I can hardly contain myself! hehe

I found a quilting class for beginners at my local high school. It's on Thursdays from 7-9 PM, and runs for 10 weeks.

I'm so excited, because:

1) I've ALWAYS wanted to learn to quilt. I tried to learn on my own, but just wasn't happening, and I don't know anyone else that does it that could teach me.

2) This is a MAJOR IBS breakthrough for me. I've always had a hard enough time doing something like this, because I'm so shy (believe it or not! LOL), and with IBS, I haven't been able to even fathom the idea of such a committment. I can't believe I'm actually excited about a committment!

Anyway, classes start next week, so wish me luck. Oh, and I have to miss the 9/29 class because of the Fall Spawl. I was going to wait until it started again in spring so I wouldn't have to miss a class, but the lady at registration told me the classes are small and I should be fine catching up one-on-one with the instructor.

I can't believe I'm doing this!!! WOOHOOO!!!!!

Bevvy, I hope you're reading this! (She's tried getting me to take classes for a long time now!) BTW, if you are, I finally got a pic of that scarf I knitted for my little sis so I can finally send it to ya, Teach!

I really want to take up crocheting or knitting once grad school is over. Does anyone have an opinion? Which is better for a person who a) is uncoordinated; b) wants to get away with little imperfections?

Those who can do; those who want it done better teach.

Me too. I'm a self taught quilter. One of these days I'll enroll in some classes. Maybe after the kids are both in school.

YIPPEEE! What FUN! I only took a few quilting classes, and made only one quilt, but the class was a blast. I love ALL classes; it's great being around others who share your same interests -- shyness goes right out the window!

I don't know how you taught yourself to quilt; that's tough to do! It's not like knitting. I'm anxious to see that scarf, Girlfriend!

You're gonna have a terrific time at the quilting class, I know it. I discovered that my IBS doesn't act up on me if it's an event that I'm LOOKING FORWARD to. But if it's something that I'm anxious over, something I have self-doubt about, then I'll cramp up 'till I'm doubled over. You'll have no problems, with this fabulous attitude of yours!

ENJOY! And keep us posted.

Bevvy

It is alot of fun getting out there and trying new things... good for you! SO many people want to learn how to do something, but never pursue it.
ya might make some new buddies or have alot of fun along the way, too!
Sounds like this is such a big step for you, I am excited! Let us know how your first day went!

Since I don't know how to crochet, I'm not sure which is better. I chose knitting, because I always like how knitted stuff looks better than crochet. But, that's just my personal opinion. I do know that some knitted things have crochet accents, so you may need to learn that anyway if you did choose knitting.

Where's Bev when you need her? Bevvy...got an opinion on this one?

Wow! I can't believe you taught yourself! I bought a little "kit" to make a Christmas teddy bear wall hanging, and even got The Complete Idiot's Guide to Quilting and still couldn't pick it up.

Hope you get to take classes! I'm a self taught knitter and want to take classes for that also.

Hey Bevvy!

I remember you told me you took some quilting classes. You hated the quilting part but loved the class! LOL

I'll hopefully send you the pic tonight. It's on my home computer.

I hope I do okay. When I start to think of it, I get butterflies in my stomach and wonder if I'm nuts! LOL But, it's something I really want to do so I'm sure it'll work out fine.

Will let you know how I make out!
