I cried the whole way home. Hubby is working from home today so he could walk us all to school, too. Liam started crying the minute he walked into the school door. As we were leaving, I peeked in the classroom window and he was crying hysterically and jumping up and down as someone tried to calm him down. I was shell shocked. I just didn't want to leave. My hubby reassured me that they were used to that kind of thing and that he'd be OK. Sigh. I can't wait till he's home to see how his day went.

My kids are in the 6th and 7th grade and I still get teary on the first day of school!

It is scary to go to school for the first time...kind of like us on our first day at a new job. I bet Liam will be fine...bless his heart.

I will say a prayer for peace for Mommy and Liam!

Oh Alicia that has to be so hard! I couldn't stand it when I had to leave Noah at daycare so I can't imagine when he goes to school. *hugs* Hang in there! Noah is breaking my heart lately... he doesn't want Mama anymore. He now goes to Dada for everything. I hate feeling this way but I am jealous. I know it is a phase he is going through but it stinks!!! My hubby said now you know how I have felt the past 19 months. Sorry but I don't think he felt the way I do right now!

Poor little guy - and poor mommy! That has to be hard. I'm sure he'll love it after a day or two, but I know that has to be SO hard to drop him off! That's cute that hubby is working from home today so he can walk with you!!

Let us know how he does!

Don't you wish you had a video camera??? Wouldn't it be fun to pull that one out of the collection 27 years or so from now?

My daughter started Kindergarten last week. The hardest part was watching her get on the bus. I cried for 2 days. I stayed home the first day so I could visit her school and pick her up when she was done. She goes to full day Kindergarten and her Grandmother picks her up from the bus. But, being there the first day helped. It was one of the hardest things I had to do. And she has been in daycare since she was 6wks old. Amazing how hard it is to let go!

Ahhh, I know this is tough, but he'll be fine. He probably quit crying as soon as you left, and as your husband said, the teachers are prepared for this. They usually get them so busy that the kids quieten down and have a great time! I bet he had a great day! I know you are anxious to hear all about it. Let us know.

Ever since I was hospitalized before Quinlan was born in 93, Liam has been Daddy's boy. It's Daddy he wants in the night (he he), when he's crying, etc. It's always Daddy. I know it's hard. I figured it was because I was hospitalized and Daddy had to take care of him. Maybe I was wrong. Maybe it's just a phase. Anyway, Noah loves you just as much as he did before - don't doubt that. I know Liam loves me, and I'm an acceptable substitute if Daddy isn't around (sigh.) No matter what, you're the Mom. Remember that.

Even in the grocery store. I HATE it when I have to poop and I'm stuck in the grocery store. Quinlan was in the cart, and I had a cart full of groceries, stuck in the SLOWEST line with the SLOWEST teller ever. I drove home at the speed of light, dragged Quinlan in the house and abandoned all dignity in my dash for the loo. I HATE that!!!!!!!

I'm sure you'll both be fine once you're past the initial trauma. Hugs! That must be so hard.

Your story sounds SO familiar. When my girl started school, she did the same thing. That was a very depressing time in my life. She cried everyday for 2 months. She'd cry during school, too. Her teacher said she'd never had one as bad as my daughter!

I felt so bad and so helpless. Nothing I did seemed to make any difference.

I helped out in her class several times a week, and that would help while I was there. But, as soon as I'd leave, she'd cry and cry and cry.

She finally adjusted, but it was a struggle. I hope your little one doesn't have as much trouble, but at least you can know that others have been through it and survived.
