I heard back from the editor of Autism/Asperger's Digest. She loves the article, needs some light editing but we have time. She wanted some pics of the kids to go with it, so I sent about 20 (yall know how much I like to take pics of my kids!) She wants to try and put one in particular of Luke ON THE COVER!!! It's one from like a year ago, at least, but one of my favorites, too. You can see a wee bit of Aaron peeking back there, too. Here it is:
If you're interested in reading the article I'll share it, it's too long to post here and would bore most folks, I am sure! But Im' pretty excited!!

Bless you!!!!! It is a hard job!
I'll email it to you if you want.
I posted it here briefly but remembered I'm under a loose "contract" not to publish it anywhere else first, not sure if online counts but figured better honor that! I'm new to all this!!!

Cool! Congratulations! I would like to read it too----but later. You may not want to post it online. They may not accept it for publication if you do. They usually want first or exclusive rights. I don't know how the internet plays into that.
By the way, where in La. do your grandparents live? The news is getting more and more depressing.

I have never heard of this magazine. My 3 yr old great grandson is autistic and we love hearing about new therapies or magazines. Where can I get a subscription to the Digest?

I just finished reading the article and may I say, it was written with style, grace, and the true heart of a woman who cherishes her family.
It made me cry...and Michelle, I admire and respect you even more than I thought possible.
Luke is a very special little boy...as are Aaron and Sarah.
The article was so easy to read...and is surely will help other parents who are struggling with the decisions that you faced not to long ago.
I just can't tell you guys how touching, informative, and beautiful the article is to read.

I am so ecstatic! Today is a day of good news all over these boards, huh?
I am so excited and can't wait to read the article! I read your edit, so let us know when it is published!
I know we have "talked" about Asperger's before (my little brother and your son)... I don't know if I had told you that I worked as a Teaching Assistant in a class of elementary aged Autistic and ASperger children this summer...? I loved it so much, even though the pay stinks I am trying to get a permanent position there.
Congratulations on the article, and that picture of Luke is way too cute!

You don't know how special you are to that little boy! Many of Luke's preschool workers felt this way about him but once we reached Elem school it was SOOOO not like that... it was not pretty.
I can't share the article online anymore, Im' afraid I'll be breaking my contract with the magazine, but it comes out in Autism/Asperger's Digest next July (long way off, I know). As a teacher, if you dont' already get that, you should - it's a great publication. Your school might cover the cost?
Hugs to you for being such a loving teacher!!! They DO make me want to try harder, that is for sure!

I am a substitute teacher waiting for my big break. So till someone gets sick, retires, gets pregnant or, sigh, dies, I wait....this area of the world has an abundance of teachers and I can't move, because DH owns an Outback Steakhouse out here.
The little guy is in a school I sub in often. He's given me eye contact before and I almost peed myself. he's great and we get along very well. He's even leaned up against me-sort of an asperger's hug. his assistant is FREAKING amazing!! She's his hero! She's come a long way with him and he's very bright and very capable. That's really really lucky- and hard work too.
God blessed you with a challenge, eh??

Michele - you are definitely a super Mom with many special gifts. God bless you. I'm so glad you and Luke are getting the recognition you deserve. Please e-mail me a copy when you are allowed to. I'd love to read it. Autism has always amazed me. Such untapped potential. Hugs, Alicia.
