We both have GERD and being young, the doctor was nervous. It affects my asthma a ton. Well, my scope went well, adn I have no damage! Hooray! I just ahve to take maalox when i have attacks, not a PPI every day at all! Yess!

However, Dh has a stricture(like extra semi sphincters) that is causing him grief when he swallows. He needs to take his PPI every day for a year and then have another scope.I think he'll be just fine-it's not a big problem. Hope he smartens up and eats more than once a day now. Skinny guy(apparently gcould lose 5 lbs-from where, I'm not sure...) and eats like crap.

Anyhow, one side note-maalox gives D...but hey, it'd all give me D or C, and I'd prefer the D.

That sounds like good news - it could be much worse. Glad to hear there is no damage and Maalax isn't horrible to take as long as you get the mint. BTW that doesn't cause D for me.

My sphincter doesn't work normally, so I take a Prilosec everyday and it has been a great drug for me. Everytime I go off I get really sick, so I stick with it. Make sure your hubby takes it everyday and he will be feeling better in no time.

Hey he may gain 5 more pounds on his skinny body. LOL The doctor should let it go - it is only 5lbs.

He began the Pariet back a month ago and def. noticed when he quit that he was in pain. It's impetus to continue!
