Adam and I went hiking in Baxter State Park today. I'll spare you guys the oodles upon oodles of pictures I took, but thought I'd share a couple of the pretty ones (ok, and maybe a couple silly ones too).
Keep in mind that this is just a few miles from our house. Now you see why I love it here!
We decided to hike up to see the falls, mostly because it was the shortest trail and we're both ridiculously out of shape. Well, what logic failed to work out in our brains is that if water is flowing down, you have to go up to get to the source of it. You can't really tell from this picture, but most of the trail was straight up the mountain. I bet I'm going to hurt tomorrow!
This bunny was extremely friendly, not at all afraid of us. He was only a couple feet away from me. There was also a very friendly red squirrel - ran right up to us - but he was moving too fast to get a picture of, the little stinker.
The bummer is that all of our pictures of the falls themselves didn't come out... the sun was too bright and too direct, and with no contrast, it just looks like masses of rock. Ah well. Next time...

Now I understand! It is absolutely beautiful Casey. So, my emails asking if you'd ever consider moving are pretty futile I'd say!
Thanks for sharing your beautiful home with us. I am so jealous...but if I saw the winter pictures I would probably change my mind! Snow is pretty...but the cold and shoveling would do me in, me thinks!

That was Feb. 11... I don't remember, I think we had close to 2 feet of snow at that point. We didn't get much snow this year!
I think that you have to be a weirdo like me and think that winter is just as beautiful as summer to live here happily. It's not so much the snow, but winter is LONG here - it gets cold in November, and doesn't get warm again until early July. LOL!!

I am SUCH a winter person. This one is MY idea of heaven. I can just picture being inside with that beautiful view out the window and a wood fire burning while I read a book (of course in my fantasy I don't have 3 kids racing around screaming their heads off ). Sigh, really pretty thanks for sharing, I am SO jealous

Yes, indeed, I do see the attraction! You can lose yourself for hours in the landscape. I understand why Stephen King loves it there, too.
Truly a state for all seasons. Kate.

Great pictures Casey! It actually reminds me of up north where WIlls parents live. Northern MI look very similair, even the winter snow one!!
I'm with you, I wouldn't mind winter so bad if it wasn't SO long and dark!

It's ok... in MY fantasy, I actually have the fireplace! But we do have a big picture window in front, and it's so nice to sit and watch the snow falling in the morning while I have breakfast, even without the fire burning.
Sorry.. I'll stop making you jealous now!
