I checked your profile and you do not mention how old you are. We do seem to have a lot in common. I was always thought of as the quiet, shy, "good girl", you know, "Ask Kathleen she'll be happy to help out." I am 41 now and have found that as I get older I am much more assertive. I have learned how to say no (well, I am getting better at it.) I have learned that my feelings are important and need to be validated even if they inconvenience someone else. I do find that I worry less about what other people think, because it seems to be a waste of energy. These are hard lessons to learn and I do catch myself thinking, "Oh, I hope they are not mad at me." I am not suggesting we need to become inconsiderate, just that we must believe we are equally as important as those around us. We are who we are, do not apologize for your feelings. Our only obligation is to live each day to the best of our ability, to find the joy in life and in others. The older I get, the more capable I am of doing this. I am not sure where I am going with this post. I hope to offer you some encouragement through my experience. Thinking of you. artist

Hi Artist!

Thank you so much for your thoughts and encouragement. I, too am getting better at "sticking up for myself" as I get older and, like you, still catch myself wondering if when I do that it hurt someones feelings. It's a vicious circle I guess. But, it really helps to know there are people who share the same thoughts and experiences. Thank you! {{{{hugs}}}}}
