The realization of my one and only child getting married hit me yesterday... my "novel" thoughts of all the fun my daughter and I have had in planning this wedding over almost a year and 1/2 has come to a realization that she is entering into a VERY SERIOUS committment! I just can't believe it... but I'm going to be OK... not generally one to freak out or to become terribly emotional... however, I do have this fear. What if the IBS hits me just before I walk to my seat at the wedding, or as his mom and I go up to light the candles (all eyes on me!!!)???? How horrifying... and if I think about it, it will be more likely to happen!! So, I know to take it easy on the foods, if I had my "druthers" I'd not eat Friday or Saturday until the reception that night... then by that time I wouldn't care. But, realistically, I can't go quite that long without eating, PLUS my baby wants me to go to breakfast that AM with her and her girls. Soooo... obviously, if SHE wants me to go, I'll go. Help me, girls, especially those who have been in my shoes, or the new brides who feared the same just before their weddings... how did you handle it?? Double up on meds and just don't eat??? Help! (did I say I don't usually freak out???)

Sorry to hear you are worried abotu all of this. To be sure to avoid an attack, take a couple of Imodium a couple of hours before things start and just eat right. Good luck and congratulations.

I saw your intro... I don't know what meds you're on, but yep, I'd up the anti-D meds for sure. And definitely eat SAFE food - I know it'll be hard when you're going out to breakfast, but try to avoid cheese, whole eggs (egg beaters are fine), butter, excessive oil, other dairy foods, and (obviously) anything you already know is going to irritate your gut!
You'll be fine... I say this as the authority who's gotten through 2 weddings as a bride, 3 weddings or so as a bridesmaid, and several dozen weddings as a guest - with not a single problem for ANY of them, and I've had IBS since I was 12. You can do it!
And congratulations!

Thanks for the encouragement... it's going to be an experience... I've been married twice but never had a wedding, never been in a wedding, but have played flute at a couple of weddings. Usually take so many meds that my mouth is too dry to play well... LOL!! Seriously,it's happened!... ~K~

I agree, take some extra meds, eat very carefully and bring some "sucky" candies for the cotton mouth thats bound to follow all the meds! Most of all, remember to have FUN!!!

I am getting married this Saturday! I am really not a nervous person but the past couple of days I have gotten the nervous twinges in my stomach a time or two. I am worried about the eating aspect or about having an attack of bad gas or something! My plan is to eat only the foods that I know 100% won't cause an attack the day before and the day of. Other than that, I keep the acacia and Immodium coming. They have been my two lifesavers since having IBS. Good luck!

Ask your doc for Nulev, FAST! Then take a 2 about an hour before the wedding, then 2 more just before you walk down the aisle... they dissolve quickly and leave a fresh peppermint taste in your mouth... that is before they dry you out! LOL Best wishes and God bless... can't wait to hear how it goes!! ~K~
