I just sent my last child to Kinderdgarten today. I didn't cry until one of my friends called me this morning to see how I was doing. I cried!! I have been hugging Aaron the past few days and telling him I am going to really miss him and he says, "mom I'll be fine". Then he rolls his eyes at me. He was really excited to put on his back pack this morning and walk into school with his brothers. I know he will be fine, but I can't wait to see him at 3:10 today.

Ohhhhhh! I know you are sad! Don't feel bad about crying. This is a big step for both of you. At least he went eagerly and with a smile on his face. I'm so glad mine were happy to go and didn't cling to me. Just think---he must really think he's a big kid now to be able to go to school all day just like his big brothers!
When my last one went off that first day, he brought me his big teddy bear and said, "Mom, Teddy will stay with you today!" After Jason got on the bus, I came in the house and there was this big teddy bear on the sofa with this sad, pouty look on its face! I started bawling and then realized, wow, I have all this free time! I could go shopping by myself! I could eat lunch by myself! And then I quickly perked up! Ha! Enjoy your day and before you know it, he will be home and ready to share his day with you.

Thanks, I wish I could enjoy my day of freedom. My husband gave a small list of things to do and I have around three hours of homework to do. Yikes!!
The good thing about them being in school is I can study now. I started school two weeks ago and had my first Chemistry test last night and I never studied for it. My kids take too much of my time.
I loved the story of your son. How precious!!

I was supposed to send my oldest today. I woke up happy we are homeschooling and I don't have to. I would be bawling all day. My nephew went to Kindergarten today. My sister said he was up before 6 with D. He said he was nervous but the poor guy has my kind of stomach. My sister started crying and then my three-year-old nephew got into mischief and that was the end of it.

We are going over this afternoon to visit and share out "sushi" we made today. We are learning about Japan and used fruit roll-ups, rice crispy treats and twizzlers to make these sushi rolls. Have to say they are good.

How is Homeschooling going? I have a few friends and a relative who homeschool and they love it!! One of my friends has been trying to get me to homeschool, but there is no way I could homeschool my middle child. He is ADHD and LD and he needs the additional services the school provides.
How do you stay sane? How are your kids doing with it? With your teaching degree, I'm sure you are doing a great job.

It is going good. We are still adjusting. Madeline thinks I am her preschool teacher and we need to do a project everyday. This is not my strong suit and I don't feel like spending hours looking for some art project. I prefer kitchen projects.

You would think a degree would help but sometimes it hinders me. I get so stuck on what I have learned that sometimes I forget that I am mom too. The biggest frustration is keeping their attention and the little crying spurts every time I take out the reading book. She tells me I am scaring her when I make her do the lesson. The only problem is she already knows the sounds of the letters. It is just review but you would think I was asking her to do algebra. Speaking of math, she told me the other day that math is the only thing she likes to do. It shows too. School, believe it or not, only takes a couple hours to do all the subjects. I am amazed sometime what we accomplish in a day.

Right now Meike is playing with a rain stick that daddy made for them last night. If I ever get a chance I will post some pictures of what we have been doing. That is if I ever get ambitious. I think I will also need hubby's help.

Hi Torbetta
I wanted to respond to you earlier. Anybody who Homeschools and sticks with it deserves a medal.
I'm sure you are doing a great job and give yourself alot of credit for embarking on this new adventure with your children.
There is a great book called, A Mind At A Time, by Mel Levine, M.D. He is a learning expert and he discusses how children learn differently and how schools have a one way approach to learning. Not every child learns the same and therefore many children struggle with their school work. Not sure if this book will be helpful with your daughter.
I loaned it to the Reading Specialists at my children's school and she was very impressed.
Good luck with your homeschooling.
Barb
