Ok, this is my first summer in NY...and this is the fourth night in a row I can't sleep. its soooo humid, I am sooo fed up because being awake my tummy starts grumbling and being over hungry and I am running out of food and patience. I was always such a good sleeper till marriage and moving here. I long for my bed in England. We live near the top of the building so all the heat rises to us...I am sooo frustrated. Moan moan moan.

Ugh. I know. It's been over 90 for a week now with high humidity. I've been going to the pool though so it's ok. Do you have AC to turn on?? I would DIE w/o it!

You are absolutely right when you say the humidity and being over 40 in the Houston Texas area is just dreadful.
I live near Houston and I am over 40 as well. I don't know how anyone down here lives without an AC. I don't think anybody ever gets used to this stuff. Everyone turn on the AC and try to chill out.. Take Care

Oh no. I was just in NY and I remember how crazy hot it wason my last day there when the heat wave started.

Do you have a fan? Have you tried taking a cold shower and letting your hair stay wet when you go to bed. That can help.

I used to keep a cold face cloth near my bed and put it on my forehead and that helped.

I'm so sorry. Is an air conditioner not in the budget?

I feel your pain -- I nearly went crazy when I first moved to Chicago because of the heat in the summer, espeically at night. I can just see the board people from Texas laughing to themselves now.

The key is the A/C, if you have it - the saving grace for the bad whether in Halifax is that the ocean breeze cools things down at night here, so we never get the 20+ degree lows.

It's been really hot (90ish and above) and humid here in Philly as well...my tummy's bugging me this week anyway because of finals and not sleeping enough, it'd be even worse if I didn't have my window a/c....plus Mac (my bf) would be dying as well, even though he's from Houston, he can't live without an a/c!

San Jose, California is freezing today! Saddly, it's only in the 60's today, but its very cold for CA in June! It's gloomy too because it is raining in Northern California. This is crazy for June weather!

Thank goodness I finished work early today...I think in the last four nights I have had ten hours sleep tops..but I actually don't feel that bad!!! We have air con but its not healthy to sleep with it on. I have lived in boiling countries before - I lived in Israel for three years which is the Middle East for goodness sake...and I kept a fan on me (had no air con) and was FINE! I travelled in the tropics for 9 months and was fine too, so I have no idea what is going on. The most annoying thing is to glance at hubby and see him happily snoring away...grrrrrrr. I baked cookies at 4am!
Thank you all - we are buying a better fan today.

In Houston we lose a poor/elderly person with no AC every year if not more. I am all about AC no matter what!

Argh, I feel ya on the heat and humidity, we have it in Jersey right now too (well, obviously if you do In NY and melissa does in Philly)
My window a/c unit just can't keep up even with my tiny studio apartment. I want to cook, but I don't want to sweat my butt off doing it.
It is contributing to a nice IBS stream of attacks today, also.

So, other than all this humidity, how have things been with you lately Dalia? It is nice to see you around again.

I agree, I run my AC no matter what! I'm NOT a good heat person, add hormones into that mix and its not a pretty sight! I sleep with the Ac on about 75 and a big fan that blows right on me! Its been hot and humid in MI and the hormones I'm on give me horrible hot flashes on top of that so I've been pretty miserable also! Why is it bad to sleep with the AC on?? Not that I'm going to turn it off anytime soon but curious!

Has it been serviced? It could be all of the allergens and specs of dirt that built up on it are now circulating in your air and bugging you. You might want to get it cleaned.

My throat's been really dry the past few days too!! Hmm...we have forced air though. And I thought my husband just replaces our filter. I'll have to think about that. Because I cannot sleep when I'm hot. As it is, we have it programmed, and it either goes off or warms up while we sleep, and the past few days I've woken up sweaty and gross.

Hey sheri!
yep I've been MIA around here thats for sure..was all busy with holidays and exams etc. things are a little calmer for now, then more exams in august!Life is good, IBS still naughty but I'm hanging in there experimenting with stuff.
I am so sorry for all the drama with your man. That stuff is sooo yucky. I find breakups sooo emotionally exhausting, of course your tummy isn't good after all that, AND the heat! I hope it all calms down.
We have a window unit in our studio too and its doing an awful job. We are both sooo moody!

Somehow Jennifer I'm finding it real hard to feel for you LOL!! Cause when it's 2 below with 12 inches of snow here on the East coast in January and you are in Sunny California with beautiful weather pretty much all year round, we pretty much are real jealous! I myself am enjoying this 90 degree weather. We waited so long for it as our May was unseasonably cool this year!

Hope your weather improves though!!!!

I really feel for you

I found the one summer I spent in NY so hot and clammy, three of us shared a tiny room, and I am one ot those people who in the middle of winter wakes up drenched with sweat (but with freezing feet)

I found that good cotton sheets really help too.
Hope you are well, will email you soon, up to my eyes with wedding wedding wedding argh!

hugs,

S.

LOL Lisa! I'm not sure why I live in CA since I hate hot weather. Today it's a little better and not as cold. The rain stopped by noon and the sun is finally coming out. It's supposed to be in the 90's this weekend, though! Weird how fast the weather can change...

Hi,

I live in Houston, too, and I can't be without the AC. I usually keep it around 75 or I can't breathe because my sinuses stop up. Whenever the AC goes out I'm really cranky and you wouldn't want to see that! HA HA

Of course, we pay a high price for it but I'm willing to give something else up to be cool.
