My son goes in next week for a follow up appt., because he gets a lot of tummy aches. He has gotten more regular, but I still think there is something wrong. Another concern I have is he blinks alot and than rolls his eyes back. He has been doing this all summer and now he won't read to me, because he loses his place in the book after he blinks. This is my child who loves to read!! Tourettes runs on my husband's side of the family and those who have it their symptoms are mild. Besides tourette, does anyone have any idea what causes children to blink and roll their eyes back? Does anyone experience this with their own children? Barbara

Barbara,
I'm sorry that I don't have an answer for you. I just wanted you to know I'm thinking of you and hopefully you may get some answers when your son goes for his follow up appointment. It's so hard watching your children experience challenges and I know how helpless you can feel. I really hope you get some answers soon.
Kerrie

Barbara, Not to cause you any more concern than necessary, but my cousin suffered from a very mild form of epilepsy during childhood (she outgrew it) and her seizures resembled what your son is experiencing. She would just "space out" for a few seconds at a time and of course we couldn't get her attention during that time. Definitely have this checked out by his doctor. Best of luck!

Okay Tess thanks for really worrying me.LOL He doesn't space out, but when he tries to stop the blinking he can't do it and times it makes him cry. I hope the doctor can give us some answers, because he starts third grade next week and I don't want him to get teased at school. You're a teacher and you know how cruel kids can be. Thanks for your concern.

I'm so so sorry to hear about what you're going through with your Son. I completely understand the type of concerns you must feel, as I am also a Mother who is searching for answers at this point. I would think that it wouldn't hurt at all to seek advice from a qualified eye doctor, too. Definitely your pediatrician and possibly a reference from the doc to see an eye specialist. Aside from the tummy pain, are there any other symptoms? Distended belly, diarrhea, or anything else? Please take care,
-------------------- ~Deborah
