I take my car in Tues @ 7:30am to the body shop..... I currently have a rental approved for 5 days $23.24 per day plus tax.... I will pay for my own gas. I CAN request approval if the repairs take longer. HOWEVER Shane is pretty sure that by time they tear the car down.... and see more damage that was not on the estimate it will turn into a total loss and I will be FORCED to buy a new car. I currently owe close to what the car is worth.... so, the money that they give me will go to paying off the car and I will have to shop FAST....with Shane previous work experice in the industry... he believes from the time the insurance company cuts your check you have approval for a rental car for 48hrs then your on your own... at least that is how it was before!! I'm hoping that I will know by like Wed or Thur if that is the case so that I can go shopping on Fri-Sun so it does not cut into my exercise program during the following week. I guess I better start thinking about my options on cars in MY price range. I'm bummed cuz I had decided to NOT buy a new car and save money for a down payment...which I DON'T have now... but I don't think I'm gonna have a choice. Oh, well... nothing I can do about it... it is what it is... accidents happen.

You have the right attitude, Shell! Keep your focus and this will be over in no time. Money comes and money goes... it's good not to get hung up on it. Just think, soon you'll be driving something new! That's something to get excited about!!

I now have my rental car...... I got one just like mine but it is a 2004 and mine is a 2000. I'll let ya know as soon as I hear from the body shop if there is more damage then the insurance company said there was.

Just got off the phone with the body shop....
Extensive rear end damage..... Floor, right side Frame rail, right side as well as left
These items MUST be fixed due to it being structural damage.
BUT.... it will cost more to fix them then what the car is worth, so.... time to go shopping!!
He has called the issuance company to come out at look at it...he HOPES within 24 hours.
His current estimate is $6,167.33!!
Insurance companies was $1,947.93
STUPID LADY.... Shane even TOLD her WHERE to look... said it was a total loss...... but did she listen? NOooooooooooo....... ya know the world would just be a much better place if people would listen to Shane!! LOL j/k
Now, I need to go figure out what fair market value is so I know what I' m lookin at. If I get approx. $3,500 for it.... I can pay off the loan with $800 to spare... and between Shane & I maybe scrap together another $400-500 bucks I could have $1,200-1,300 as a down payment.... for starters....
I'll keep ya posted!
