Hi Gerry!

I'm doing pretty well! I've been crazy busy because I was running a huge festival of new theatre, dance, architecture, art, etc at school. We did 70 performances of 32 pieces in 8 days! Now I'm trying to catch up on the papers I have due at the end of the semester that I put off! But, in a couple of weeks it will be summer vacation! Yay! I really really can't wait.

And I can't imagine being a diabetic on top of the IBS. You do so well to manage all of it! I think we all cheat every once in awhile- I know I do.

How are you?

Well, I had my last "lot's" of drinks for my 21st. Now even a sip of alcohol gets the old belly gurgling and complaining and major d follows about 1/2 an hour later if I try to have more, just not worth it for me I guess. It's not easy when you're young, but still possible. Good luck!

...now I'm fine with an occasional drink or two after food. The only thing I know I can't have is stout ...the last time I did, it put me in hospital.

I can't have grape juice so drank small amounts for each fothe 4 cups of wine... YUMMY! I love being at their house- he's a professional wine connoisseur... 15 types of VERY good kosher for passover wines...

I have officially broken tradition today, but am keeping passover.. I'll post elsewhere though..

Hee heee. Uh, noooo. I had my bday celebration over the weekend and I couldn't have been more off the diet if I'd LIT THE SHOTS ON FIRE BEFORE GULPING THEM DOWN.

Well, at least that's what my belly felt like the next morning.

I had a good night tho. I think after my trip to England, I'm going to relinquish my amateur drinker status and just turn pro. Gotta get sponsorship tho... those shooters can be expensive!

Long story short, it all goes to quality of life. And I want my life to be punctuated by rich moments, and not to live in a completely safe bubble. The big picture mandates that I keep myself well overall, that I destress and mind my diet seriously, so that I can walk through life a well person and not someone in constant pain. And then I pick my moments to shatter my health with a slice of lasagne and a world of hurt later!!

Good to remind myself every now and again (but not constantly!) that if I pay the piper I can splurge! Cos if I didn't, I'd be more tempted to cheat a little every day, but then I'd be a sickie constantly!

I barely ever drink and am in MANY social settings where there's drinking. If it makes you feel sick people will understand.

I feel the same way.. i'd rather throw a few back every once in awhile, than have a boring life. (not that you need alcohol to have fun) but Every once in awhile its worth it!

No way! Seriously, when you're in town, let me know and I'll meet you for an IBS-safe meal (or a drink! )!
