My seven year old is ADHD and takes concerta for it. My husband and I decided to give him a drug holiday from it and we are on day 3. He is driving the whole household crazy. We are about ready to kill him! LOL
We love to see him function without the meds and learn to behave better without it.
His mind seems to run faster than he can think and he is so impulsive. Yesterday for no reason he punched his little brother in the eye and thought it was funny. I asked him why he hit him and he can't tell me.
Without meds discipline is even harder. He will not sit in a time out, so either my husband or I have to physcially hold him in time out. It may be time to go back to the behavoiral specialist to help us learn new methods for behaviour modification.
In the mean time wish us luck and we need lots of prayers to keep our sanity!!

Hi Barbara, I found a book when my son was about 4 (he's 10 now) - he is not ADHD or ADD, just VERY busy! The book is called "Raising your Spirited Child" - the author's last name is Kurchinka(sp?). You may want to look for it as it was my life saver, it has many sticky notes & highlighted sections from when I took it to parent/teacher meetings!
A good friend of mine now calls it her "parenting bible"!
I totally understand the need to vent! Good luck!

Thanks Ashely - we are headed for the library today and I'll check it out.
