I know the LR is a great place to spend time...cool people and fun conversations. But I'm just asking that you guys consider posting on the Eating Board too if you already don't!

I know a lot of you guys already do, and we appreciate it! But there are a lot of new posters over there and we could all so much benefit from your words of wisdom on how you all are able to achieve some level of stability.

Many of us, me included, continue to struggle with pain and symptoms on a daily basis. So, if you have some time, please consider posting some words of wisdom over on the other board. We all would be so grateful to you!

I hope this didn't come off sounding mean! I love you all, but the other board just seems so lonely. It's totally up to you, don't want to force anyone to do anything they don't want. Really!

We shall now resume regular broadcasting! Thanks for your time!

because I thought people would think I was mean or bossy, which I don't want to be! I'm so sensitive and worried about what others think of me!

Thanks for being so nice about it Tina! I really didn't want to offend anyone or tell people how they should spend their time on the boards. It's totally a personal decision and everyone has the right not to post if they don't want to!

Maybe I should still delete it, I don't know. I'm all stressing over this stupid post now. What is my problem!! HSP again I guess. Dang that HSP!

Beth, don't erase your post. You were just stating an opinion is all. I highly doubt anyone here would take offense to what you wrote. You're right, sometimes we do neglect the IBS Diet Boards. Your post was a good reminder. Thanks, I will try and be more active on that board!

I answered a post and the person actually emailed me to thank me because she said no one ever answers her posts. So, I thought it might help to ask for some help over here.

Thanks for knowing that I wasn't trying to force anyone to do anything!

As they should! No one should feel like they have to post if they don't want to! Everyone just use the boards as best fits your own needs. Please.

..honest, but a lot of the questions I are so technical that I can't help. Has anyone else noticed this lately??
Also loads of them are about SFS dosage etc and I don't take one..

I usually browse not by board but by "all forums last 24 hours", if others did that instead of just checking your fave board you might find it easier to help on this.

PSI just checked to see when the last time I posted on Eating is, out of guilt but YAY I posted yesterday AND the day before. Other feeling guilty people check your own profile, "all users posts" to see how good/bad you are about helping others!

Didn't want to make anyone feel guilty, sweetie. I can't answer to most of the posts either because I don't know the answer! Sometimes I get one I can. Surprise, surprise!

And sometimes I just need a break from all the eating stuff and hang out in the Living Room to get away from the IBS stuff and trying to figure it all out.

I don't want anyone to feel an obligation to post on that board. Boy, I opened a can of worms. If you can't help or don't feel like dealing with IBS problems, you shouldn't feel obligated to. Many times I need a break from all that!

I look at the past 24hrs and if it's something I can help with or add two cents on any of the boards I do it. I like you can't recommend anything on diet and stuff simply because I don't follow the diet nor do I understand dosages of fiber and stuff.

I started out using the site for helpful information then just got accustomed going right to the Living Room chats.

Don't feel as though you are "bossing". You were simply making a suggestion and I think everyone knows that. It probably did make other people think too so it was a good suggestion!

You said you don't do the diet so what diet do you do? And do you use an SFS?

I'm just curious as I have not had much success with this diet or with an SFS and am wondering what you have found helpful for you.

If I remember correctly, you don't really have a severe case of IBS though, right? What are your main symptoms?

And thanks for not thinking I am bossy! I am such the quiet, non assertive person. I was actually nicknamed Mouse because I am so quiet!

...I've heard that before...and often it's just that the post isn't answered quickly and then it's not at the front of the forum. I know that sometimes I like to think about a reply before I post...I only ever don't answer a post if I've no info or it's already been sorted.

A very reasonable request, Beth, and well put. You said it very nicely. I respect your being "up-front" with us, and I admire your initiative.

I'll try to comply with your request; I just assumed, with so many people here, that all the threads were well-covered, but now that I know otherwise, I'll see if there's anything I can offer anyone.

Okay?

Bev

Beth, I'm IBS D and have been for over 15 years so I pretty much know what I can eat and what I can't. My bad times which I've pretty much pinpointed are hormonal times (ovulation and menstrual time)so I know pretty much when I have an attack what it's caused from. I CAN NOT tolerate dairy as far as milk. Cheese is fine but cream cheese and sour cream are No, No's. I still eat them but pay later.

I do take Bentyl which is maybe cheating as to why my IBS is not as severe as some but I've just recently starting taking it again about 6months ago. In the past I've tried donnatol & Levsin and couldn't tolerate them. Bentyl seemed to be the only thing that worked and then it stopped working. I had a bad attack in Sept for 10 days and started back up on the Bentyl after 10 years or so and it's been working (for now).

However, just because my symptoms aren't as severe as some I still have every other bothersome issue that goes along with IBS. I can't eat at most restraunts, fear long car drives, know where every gas station is on my way to work, have anxiety about going anywhere where there's not going to be a bathroom, going to picinics, the embarrassment of having to leave somewhere if I get a bad attack....Ughhhhhh
so I can relate to all the other people on the boards in that respect.

I've never tried SFS. I did take acidophilus and am really considering starting back up again as it didn't hurt in any way and it was putting the good bacteria back into my gut.

I've tried some of Heather's sweet baked recipes and didn't really like them. I am lucky in that respect. I can eat chocolate and pretty much any junk food so I guess that's why I don't follow any special diet. Like I said before I've dealt with this for over 15 years and I guess I kinda know how to control it to a point.

Good luck in finding your "happy medium". I'm sure you will in time.
