Imipramine/ Anti-depressents

Does anyone know anything about Imipramine, specifically whether it has every been linked to suicidal thoughts or withdrawal pains?
My boyfriend (who suffers from IBS) was prescribed 25 mg, which made him nauseus and dizzy. He tried cutting down to 10 mg and then working his way back up to 25 (over approx. 6 days), but once more felt nauseus and dizzy. He, therefore, decided to stop taking the medication, but suffered from "suicidal thoughts which I could not shake" the following day and then 4 days of worse pain than he has ever had (from IBS).

I'm not familiar with that drug, but have you done a search on this site yet? I've also found a lot of information at www.ibsgroup.org. They have a forum completely dedicated to drug/alternative treatments, and there's a lot of stuff on that.

Have you spoken to his doc? If not, no time is better than the present! That's really frightening! I hope your b/f is ok now!!!! I'll keep you both in my thoughts...let us know how he's doing!

Thanks! He saw his doc yesterday, but she simply prescribed more (of a lower dose), so I'm still a little worried!
