Ok Girls, I need a new purse and I think I'm actually going to treat myself to a nice one! I usually just buy $20 ones at Kohles or something like that! I have almost a $100 credit on my Marshall Fileds card so thought I might use if for a new purse. Will said he would throw in some extra money for my V-Day gift towards a nice purse!

I've always had purses with shoulder straps but lately, find I don't really use the shoulder straps much! I currently have a back-pack style purse but usually just use the little hand strap on it. I have several little "hippy" style pouch bags that I use for shopping at the mall and stuff so I don't have to carry a big purse with me. They are just big enough for money, id, chap stick and cell phone!

I'm looking for a medium size everyday purse but can't decide on what styly strap to get? What does everyone else us????? I can't believe I'm contemplating spending this much on a purse but I've never had a nice one before and I want to do something nice for myself! Any pointers on purse shopping???

My sister got me one that the strap goes across my body last Christmas and I LOVE it,it might be a bit casual for your needs though but it carries the load and distributes the weight really well. I love it so much I got another one in red leather in the sales, they are just so comfy to carry.

I always buy the purses with smaller straps that you just put over your shoulders..

but I agree.. I love coach purses.. they are pretty and last forever. worth the investment. (I'm a poor student and still splurge on coach.. I have about four purses, a wallet and a wristlet. can you tell i'm obsessed! )

I was looking at some from coach. I think I really want a purple or lime green one! Or maybe pink!! I just love color!! I just can't decide on what style! I guess I'm nervous because I've never spent more than $20-30 for a purse! I've decided though that I'm an adult now and I deserve a nice purse! If it stops raining here, I may stop on my way home from work tonight and look again!

Do you have any outlet malls by you?
My girlfriends and I went shopping to the outlet mall that
had a Coach store. They had a special on the blue purses
that day for about 47.00. It was a great buy with about
6 different styles so all of us bought a purse. It was a lot of fun.

Maybe you can go online and see if they offer any of the sales online.

All google came up with for coach outlest stores was one in Napa CA?!! Does anyone know if there is one in Michigan? They have a beautiful purple suede purse I really like on the web site but its $300.!! I was hoping to keep it under $200.!! I can't believe I'm even contemplating spending that much on a purse!

I guess I'm just jealous! I see all these women coming into my office with these beautiful purses and when I compliment them on the purses they say "Oh, thank you, its a so-and-so bag!" and several have asked me what kind of purse I have and I'm too embarrassed to tell them! I'm 34, I guess its time I bought a big girls purse!

Holy Cow!! I guess I know why I don't shop at that store! Too Rich for my blood! Does anyone really spend that much on a purse??

COACH ROCKS! I used to be addicted to Coach bags. Truly, I bought Coach like crazy. I LOVE this stuff! I've been addicted to Coach for over 30 years.

I have every bag they came out with some 10-15 years ago -- every single bag, including all the accessories: wallet, makeup case, eyeglass case, cell phone case, key case, even a little bag to hold my butt wipes! Belts, back packs, fanny packs -- you name it, I bought it. The outlet closest to my home was my store of choice, and the manager of the outlet used to call me every time they got a new style in -- I'd make the trek out there the following weekend and buy up everything I could. Once, I bought 3 bags at the same time.

It's a sickness.

Now that I'm retired, I no longer shop for anything, certainly not Coach! But I still have all my old purses, because you can't kill these Coach bags. They truly DO last a lifetime. All the brass is solid brass, and the leather is extremely sturdy. The older it gets, the better it looks. You can't go wrong with Coach!

Bev

P.S.: Don't buy it in the stores; it's too expensive. Find an outlet! All the bags in the outlets are overstocks in perfect condition: too many of one style or too many of one color. They're automatically a quarter of the price in the stores, but they also have a sale table of bags that they REALLY have too many colors of, and they're marked down another quarter -- so you can get a bag from that table for half the price in the stores. No joke.

Coach DOES INDEED ROCK!! I go to the outlets in Hagerstown, MD, and you're right, you can pick up any Coach bag for 60-75% off!! They last forever, as evidenced by my mom's Coach collection (can you tell I learned the addiction from her??), and they're so classic they go with anything, including jeans!!!

My favorite is the Coach city bag in black. Small in size, holds a ton!

Hi my name is Nelly and I'm a Coach-aholic!

... is $500. But it's signed by the maker, and has a leather lined interior too. It's a Stefano Serapian and I like it cos it's square leather and has a rubber bottom which is perfect for resting down in a washroom sink or movie theater floor.

I rotate between it and my Coach classic '80's city bag, depending if I want to carry more or less.

Dalia's seen it! We hefted each other bags in NY when we met in January!!

Atleast you were a smart shopper Bev! You had an addiction, clearly! But atleast you had some common sense and bought via outlet LOL

I used to have a great purse...it was kinda like a bag and I could hold in by the top straps or it would fit over my shoulder.

Now that I have Bentley I have a double backpack deal. A large one for his diapers etc and a smaller one for me that clips to the front of the big one. When I drop him at the sitters I just unbuckle my smaller purse and go. It's perfect! I just got it before Christmas...it was on sale from $75 to $25 so I knew it was written in the stars for me to own this unit LOL

Nelly???? Your purse cost you $500???? OMG! That's an expensive purse you have. Guard it with your life!

I just buy the $25-45 no-name brand purses. Whatever I find that's cute and is practical.

Sounds like those square bags airlines used to give out in the 80s! Bet that's nothing like them, huh?

My favourite handbag (sorry, purse! ) atm is a straw one I got on holiday. It's big enough for everything I carry, the straps JUST fit over my shoulder so I can carry it either way and most importantly for me, it stands up on it's own so nothing falls out when I put it down!

I am unfortuanley no help here because I cannot get myself to spend a lot of money on a purse. I am the cheapy Target or even Meijer brand girl. I do like some of the knockoffs that I have seen at purse parties. I could probably get myself to buy one of those! Good luck purse hunting!

I went shopping last night. I LOVE that pinkish/purple suede bag from coach, so I went to the coach store last night to look at it a little more closely. I really wanted purple and it is much more pink than the picture on the web site shows. Ok, that was fine, it was still a nice color but it had gold color hardware and I don't do gold, I'm strictly sterling silver. If I was to spend $298.00 on a purse, it was going to be perfect! Not to mention, I would have still needed to buy a wallett.

So, I walk through the mall a bit and checked out a few other stores. I ended up getting a purse from Brighton. Here's the one I got http://www.brightonretail.com/store/wishlist.php?m=product_detail&p=H60330
I also got the matching wallett. Its definetely pink but its a darker, real prety pink. It stands up on it own and had both the regular hand handles and a detachable shoulder strap. I love it! They put it in its own cloth bag, than in its own box for storage. I feel a bit quilty about spending $218.00 on a purse and wallett, but darn it, I think I deserve a treat after all I've been through! I figure I better get this kind of frivilous spending out of my system before we have a baby!

Yeah, I buy upscale stuff. But I use what I buy and mend things if they break. I don't even donate stuff to charity cos I'm still using all of it. I only have 6 or 7 pairs of jeans for instance, and 3 of them are $58 Gap ultra low rise. But the others are $160 Diesel jeans or $180 DKNYs, also ultra low rise. I think top end merchandise fits better and lasts longer, personally. I also was ultra-poor growing up (think free government cheese) so I'm sure that has to do with my materialism.

But I'm tall too and have to alter pants, jackets, etc. to fit my height so everything I buy is an investment. I'd love to be able to wear a size medium abercrombie sweatpants offf the rack (that'd be so easy!!!!), but they come up to right below my knees! I have a 35" inseam, but I wear a 37" pants leg cos I wear shoes with little heels. I'm so psyched to go to the UK and do some shopping cos they have my sizes over there!!!! I do my best shopping overseas!!!!

I've been unimpressed with the look of Coach bags in recent years; I think they're too trendy and cutesy. My attraction to classic Coach is just that it IS classic- timeless design that you buy once and use for the rest of your life... which would never happen with some ditsy little lime green pouchy, like Coach has been turning out lately.
That having been said, my daily companion is a 5 year old red Coach Hamptons diaper bag that's just the right size to shlep music, book, lunch, and everything else I need for work and gigs. It's probably gonna last me the rest of my professional life (and for the amount I paid for it, it had better )
