Beer- major bloating or D, no longer drink I miss my Yeungling lager and Killians!
Wine- haven't had a problem with any.. chardonnay, white, rose, red
Schmirnoff Ice and things of similiar nature- usually fine but will bloat alittle, sometimes will make tummy burn. i always proceed with caution with these.
Vodka- OK! usually get in cranberryjuice. At home I would put it in Arizona Rx health Stress Iced tea. this was my #1 pick, but now I like drinking wine more cause I save more on calories that way, and it feels more gentle.
Rum- had captain Morgans in my Silk Nog at Thanksgiving and was fine! But, it could have been a fluke. I don't drink it becuase the only thing I can think to put it in is soda, which is a no-no for me.
JD- I think that is a no-no and why I was so sick the next day on New years... or was that the tequila...
Margaritas I can drink if I do not have an empty tummy, it triggered an attack having one BEFORE my meal... High Octane 190s (a slushie with everclear and maybe other stuff from Fat Tuesdays) I can drink but havea 50% chance of getting sick the next day for a little bit.

Bottom line for me- carbonation = bad.

Yes in moderation. I can drink white wine, rum and vernors. That's all that I've tried. I don't get a stomach while drinking, my problem comes after in the a.m. I have rock hard BM and then my stomach is bloated and crampy all day.

I'm highly allergic to beer and wine- none for me at all. I can drink most hard liquors, usually about the equivalent of 2 martinis. If I drink any more than that I get sick.

Wine and small amounts of alcohol is okay with me. I usually sip them slowly and if my tummy starts to act up, I stop immediately.

A couple weeks ago, I was able to have a coke and rum - with the rum being a TINY bit for flavor.

I find a small glass of wine is ok. As is a teeny brandy. Beer I drink, but shouldn't as it makes me bloated and gassy. Vodka I don't know what to mix with anymore.

I don't know. I don't drink because alcoholism runs on the maternal side of my family, and I don't like messing with genetics. Besides, the smell of alcohol makes me gag most of the time anyway (probably a result of watching my grandmother almost die of alcohol poisoning when I was 14). I don't even let my bf kiss me if he's been drinking (and he drinks very responsibly, I've never seen him the slightest bit drunk) unless he brushes his teeth first!

I mean.. I sometimes get tummy aches but they are all well worth it in my humble opinion.. if I have one.. its never very bad

I drink.. beer (light beer), red and white wine, but find white easier on the tummy, and i'm also fine with vodka martinis and rum.. or other drinks with vodka and rum.

I don't really try because it scares me too much. I used to be able to drink some but i'm such a lightweight. I only really like the drinks that don't taste like alcohol anyways..like mudslides or something..but then all of those are just too rich to be safe anyways. When I was in Italy over the summer I did taste some wine at a couple vineyards we visited, but I could feel my tummy grumbling back at me for awhile.

My 21st birthday is coming up in a couple of weeks and I'm looking forward to turning down drinks and explaining why I don't really care that I'm 21 (sense the underlying sarcasm here). Oh well.

Oh, I was going to Google that word.

On another topic, you know how I had that near-accident on Friday? Well, I looked at the front bumper of my car tonight and it's all scratched up!!! I should have checked it out when she was still there. Dumb, dumb, dumb!! But I didn't feel a thing, unless someone hit me tonight while I was parked and doing groceries?

Hmmm, its possible that someone hit you tonight in the parking lot of the grocery store. Maybe a shopping cart slammed into your bumper... Regardless, you can't get the person who did it.

What I suggest is to buy some Scratch X from your local automotive store. That should be able to take out most of the scratches with no harm to your car... Check it out Scratch X

Ya, I think it happened tonight. You might be right. It's pretty bad. It's not light scratches, it's black and really scraped to the point that there's no paint and just the bumper is showing in some areas. I don't think that product would cover it, but thanks.

I called my BF to ask him if he did it. Oops. Of course he didn't.

It sucks but the odd thing is there was a scratch there before (but not as bad) from when I scraped up in a parking garage against the cement divider. I got a quote from Toyota and they said it would cost $700! They have to take the whole bumper off, fix it, and then repaint the whole bumper to match. Now I'll have to get it repaired as it looks REALLY bad. My car's only 2.5 years old.

I'm going to go sulk/cry now.

Few reasons #1 Hurts the tummy
#2 Emitaphobic here too!
#3 which I guess SHOULD be #1 is that I come from a father that is a recovering alcoholic and a grandfather which is also recovering and when your family background is has alcoholics in it you have a tendency to become one so I chose to just stay away in general

Can, but for the most part choose not to. I don't like the way it makes me feel, and would prefer to always be in as much mental control as I can. I like the way I feel and function better when I don't drink.

It used to give me a hell of a time the next day, to the extent that i'd consider giving it up, but then friends would come to town and.......
Anyway since completing the hypno course i seem to be far more tolerant of it, more tolerant of a lot of things for that matter.

Hi guys,
Good post, I wondered about this the other day too.
I can handle alcohol sometimes, but I seem like that with a lot of things! Like, I am the same with dairy. Sometimes it's fine, sometime's it's _awful_.
I know I definitely CANNOT drink beer after a bad Budweiser experience last year and I haven't tried it again since. White wine usually bothers me, and I HATE red wine so I don't know.. but the smell makes me queasy so probably not.
I used to drink Bacardi Breezers a lot and when my IBS was _fairly_ stable, I never had a big problem. Once my IBS got worse, though, I didn't risk it.
Someone else already said this, but I can drink vodka with cranberry juice too and haven't ever had a problem. I also used to drink Archers (peach schnaps) with cranberry juice, and sprite. But I ALWAYS eat first (something safe), drink lots of water before I go to bed... I usually feel it the next day, but it's not usually worse than any other bad tummy day.. and it's usually more nauseous and just 'ick' feeling.
Man, I wish I had a drink right now... Hee hee! Back to Canadian Women's History Paper (someone save me!!), sans alcohol!

I can have maybe a sip or two of wine, and usually I will still get some pain. Anything else and I suffer! Brittany, I had my 21st birthday in November and it was okay since most of my friends know I don't drink. It was sort of annoying though, since I hosted my party, bought up for everyone, and then let everyone else get trashed in my apt!! I'm sure yours will go fine as long as you can make it clear that you do not WANT to drink because it will make you sick...Good luck!

If I am having a good day I can drink wine, or occasionally gin and tonic. Beer and lager are a definate no as they make me really bloated.

The funny thing is that after a year of not drinking I am a complete lightweight. After one glass of wine I fall asleep and have to crawl up the stairs to bed - something that provides Tara with lots of laughs!!!

Yes, I am in school. And no one really pressures me to drink; since most people know about my IBS, they recognize that's a problem. Not to mention that there aren't any major times to drink since we're all doing work. Besides, if I drank, who would be the designated "drunk escort"?

I can drink buckets, but only if I'm stable (I'm a D). Wine is a big no-bo, though! Just cuts through me by fire! No big surprise tho, cos I'm on a Ph diet. Nothing too acidic, or else I get D.

A little bit of Jack relaxes my tummy muscles when I'm cramped, especially when the cramps are caused by nerves. I can have one drink only (preceded, of course, by a soluble fiber). If I have two, I'll pay the price later, so it's just ONE, and not every day, sometimes not even every week. As a matter of fact, I haven't had a Jack in over 2 months. I haven't needed it -- no cramps! Yaay.

BB

P.S.: Wine bothers my tummy, and champagne tears it up. If I have a "mixed" drink, it's usually a Screw Driver or Vodka Collins. I never mix my drinks, sticking to one kind only. I can sometimes get away with two Screw Drivers because the booze isn't nearly as strong as a Jack.

Is this too much info?

Yeah, Purim last year I got to escort a guy from one place to another. At one point, I tried to turn the corner, and he said "No turns." "What?" "No turns" "But I need to make a turn to get there!" "You're smart, you'll figure something out.."

Good times.

I cannot drink alcohol. Period. It burns my stomach soooooooooo bad. I get wicked heartburn and then an IBS-D attack.

There is a lot of ETOH abuse in my family, so it is for the best anyways!
