Today I am thankful for.....

RUCHIE
because she is one of the spunkiest fighters I've ever known and I would be proud to consider her a sister at heart. She's always positive and her heart is so big you can feel it through the computer! SMOOCHIES to Ruchie! We're going to do it together, girl. And who knows? At somepoint maybe we'll all relocate somewhere close to one another and we can literally cry on one another's sholders!

I am thankful for Ambien (of which I have obtained 1 legal and 2 blackmarket prescriptions) and for the sleep I will be getting for the next month while my insurance woes work their way out.

i am thankful for my favorite friend in NY and her strength and sass through migraines and fibro and all kinda of weirdisms that those bring. also for LS' bravery in a life that may not be storybook, but has her living with her soulmate in a city she loves!

i am thankfull for my bbB who is so blissfully happy in her new home I hardly hear a peep out of her! She and Don must be lovin' it up there and I also happen to have the secret knowledge of what beverage Ms bbB is able to enjoy from time to time now. Happy for that cuppa, bbB!

also happy for my dear, dear friend TaraBara-- off at Stanford and having what sounds to me to be an excellent time. Health being worked out maybe not as quickly as we'd hoped, but still making progress and SHE'S AWAY AT COLLEGE! It brings tears to my eyes to think about that, as sick as she was this Spring and summer. YOU GO GIRL!

i am thankful for the crisp smell of Atumn air.

i am thankful for the bottle of chocolate-scented lotion i was given today. YIPPIE!

i am thankful for the 3 pumpkin spice Godiva truffles i was also given today.

i am happy for newly-married Linzy and Simon with their new house and ickle garden. i am happy for the voice of reason she always is, and for the compassion she shows all of us IBSers and Fibromites alike. My UK Guardian Angel!

i am very happy that i will be sleeping this weekend. YOU HAVE NO IDEA!

i am happy that i got some lovely Indian food for dinner and he hooked me up with extras in my doggie bag 'cause he thinks i'm cute! (free dessert, too!)

i am happy that i am getting a pretty pedicure tomorrow.

i am happy that it's time to pull the fall clothes out and start wearing them. MY FAVORITE TIME OF YEAR!

and of course, soon: HALLOWEEN. what's not Happy there!?

and most of all I am happy that the Mexican Day of the Dead is coming up. The world's most beautiful holiday.

i am happy as all get out that the election is coming soon and people actually seem interested in having their opinions counted! GO AMERICA!

and last but not least.... i am very, very no real words for it happy for very tall, smart, funny men with mysterious jobs who talk to me online and say sweet and stupid and hysterical things, even if our schedules prohibit actually hanging out!

SO..... as always, I ask: WHAT ARE YOU HAPPY AND THANKFUL FOR RIGHT THIS MINUTE!?!?

I am thankful for family. We all have our little differences and quirks, but they are the absolute epitome of unconditional love and unending support. And we all get along! LOL For that alone, I feel truly blessed.

I am thankful for the new house, of course! But specifically, eating my breakfast on a soft squishy couch (which we didn't have room for in the apartment), in a room turned pink by sunlight through stained-glass windows... cooking in an actual kitchen... the DISHWASHER!!... and the peace, quiet, and lack of stress now that we don't have neighbors above and below us!

I am thankful that the roof is finished! No more hammering at 8am!

I am thankful for the cozy pink WOOL bathrobe that we found in a thrift store this past week for $3. I finally am not freezing all the time!

Every time I start or finish a project, I am thankful for my ability to make things... things I want, gifts for other people, following a pattern or making an original design. I believe that everyone is creative, it just needs to be cultivated - I am also thankful that my parents chose to cultivate that in me at an early age, because that love of creating (and the belief and confidence that I'm good at it) has never left me.

I am thankful for soft tissues. (Cussed cold!)

I am thankful for Lexapro, which has seriously changed my life.

I am thankful for Yogi teas (redbush chai, vanilla hazelnut, jamaican roast), Luna bars, spaghetti sauce, bagels with cashew butter, and all the myriad other things I can finally eat again. After living on chicken and plain pasta for so many months, every bite of real food feels like a blessing.

I am thankful for Adam, of course!

And on that note, I'm thankful for good sex.

I am thankful that it's fall - my favorite time of year - I love everything about it, from the crisp cold air, to Halloween and Thanksgiving, to pumpkins and the smell of apples in the air, to the gorgeous colors.

I am happy that it's sweater weather!!

I am thankful and happy to be in Maine. The past year of my life, despite the health problems, has been the happiest personally that I've ever known. I know that in some respects, my life has been a fairytale, and sometimes I still can't believe I'm here.

I am happy for the happiness of my friends, two of whom have also found the sort of happiness I've found in the past year.

I am happy to know and thankful for all of you... I seriously don't know how I would have gotten through the last 4 months without you.

I am thankful for Rachel (BeckyT), because finding a kindred spirit, someone with whom you just connect, is such a rare thing, especially for me. *HUGS* to you, Rachel!

...and there's probably a hundred other things I'm thankful for and happy about right now. Life is good, and for that I'm really grateful.

Today I am thankful for.....

JenX, who just made my day by saying what she did! And for all the help and laughs she has given me since I found this place. Love ya girlie!

Ruchie, for her friendship and her bravery. You make me smile even though you've been through SOOO much and you're always trying to help people. You're a knockout! I really can't wait till you start to feel better. You deserve so much love and happiness in your life. [And I love Jen's idea - we should have one place where we all can live!]

My darling husband Simon, who's doing his best with all this crap I've landed on him. He's not perfect and he still doesn't know how to cope with all this, but he loves me and he makes me feel great.

My house, which although it is a mess that still needs loads of stuff doing to it and is costing a fortune, it's OURS and it will be fantastic.

My new discovery that aromatherapy can really help Fibro.

The chocolate Tofutti ice cream that I found at a new health food shop yesterday! I haven't had ice cream for YEARS!

The health food shop I found yesterday that has so much stuff and really nice staff who let you use their loo!

That my Mum's coming to visit today and is bringing our dog (who's been staying with her as she's not working atm and I am) who we really miss.

Last night's sleep, which was BLISS. Saturday morning's when I can lie in (the Fibro has the control!) are heavenly.

Having made it to a friend's birthday dinner last night even though I felt like death yesterday. I didn't even fall to sleep during the movie we all went to afterwards! Yay to being able to do things with Simon and friends!

How much I enjoy life despite all the pain.

The warm bath which is waiting for me right now, courtesy of Simon. Thinking of which, I'm outta here!

Love you guys!

Hey Everyone,

Thanks Jen for this post. It was great to hear you are doing so well and are thankful for so many things.

First of all I am so thankful for my awesome family: My wonderful hubby, my "made-mom-proud" sons and one DIL that's the light of my life and about to have my grandbaby soon. AND, my Mom, that I adore!

I am thankful for finding this site and all the wonderful people on it that have come to be my friends. I check the boards daily to see how everyone is doing. I especially cherish, Bevvy, who has become my adopted sister and confidant.

I am thankful for all my relatives, friends & neighbors that all bring me joy in one way or another.

I am thankful for my dog Rusty who has been my pal for 12 years.

I am thankful for every day that I feel good.

I am thankful for making it 60 yrs on this earth and having a lot of wonderful experiences during that time.

I am thankful that at this time in my life I am finally financially secure and can enjoy my home and flower gardens.

I am thankful that I can curl up with my blankie that smells like Snuggle fabric softner and watch a favorite TV program.

I am thankful that I am fortunate enough to live in a free and prosperous Country.

There are a lot of other things, too, but I'll stop for now.

Have a great day

I am thankful for:

God

My Husband and my children

My two dogs J.R. and Tinkerbell

My extended family and friends and church community.

MY MIL who is SO supportive no matter what and loves me like the daughter she never had.

The smell of fresh baked apple pies (made with fresh picked apples) or pumpkin pies, or cookies or breads.

My huge warm fuzzy jacket that keeps the Fibro cold feelings away.

My Fibro angels LS and Linz who help me figure out the FIBRO day to days.

Ruchie who no matter what always offers a shoulder to cry on or an ear to listen even when she herself feels like crying.

The rest of the ladies (and gents) on this board for all the support they give to one another.

This website and Heather b/c without this I would still be spending 80% of my day on the toilet.

My pillow top mattress which I love to lie on even if I can't sleep and the warm comforter to snuggle up in.

snuggling up in front of a fireplace to read a good book.

And I could go on and on. But for today this is a good start.

I am thankful for my incredible husband who is the most supportive, beautiful person I could ever have dreamed of. Throughout every attack he makes me tea, hot water bottles, and best of all, strokes my hair as I sob, telling me how brave I am and how much he loves me. I could never have wished for anything more.
I am thankful for my parents and parents in law...who are very different from eachother, but complement perfectly. I feel so lucky to have four parents.
I am thankful for my bestest friends, who I watch moving up in the world, having babies, and it fills me heart with joy.
I am thankful to myself. For having a positive personality, no matter what, it prevails, and for having an outlook that keeps my eyes at the sky...I am also thankful for my self discipline and focus, which makes ibs deprivation much easier to handle.
I am sooo thankful to peppermint tea, ginger root, chamomile, hot water bottles, bubble baths, baby wipes, posh toilets, motilium, toast, oatmeal, rice and applesauce.
I am so thankful for ok days between bad days of ibs.
I am so thankful for being perfectly healthy apart from the ibs!!
I am so thankful for this website. After so many years of feeling alone, isolated and self consious I have learnt pride and assertiveness and feel like there is a place where people understand. Which is the only thing that helps emotionally, mid attack. And for that I thank Heather so much.
I am thankful to New York City for accepting me as one of its residents 6 days ago!!! I love it here!
I am thankful for my sense of humour which makes life even more beautiful!

Gee, I don't think I can add anything to this. WIW, you're incredible. You've said it all.

Okay, I'm thankful to be alive. Christopher Reeve's death really hit me, made me stop and think about what's really important in life and how to get real about the little things that don't mean crap, things that we blow up in our minds into big stupid things that just bog us down. I'm thankful for my health, despite my IBS and diverticulosis, despite my unusual female chromozone mix-up, I'm grateful to Reeve for giving me a wakeup call, for making me realize that every day is a gift, one that I need to learn to cherish.

And I'm grateful for all you guys who make me laugh (and sometimes cry).

And, yes, Jen, I'm grateful to Jack too....

Thank you very much if you could share this information with me! First and foremost, I am thankful for my husband Eric, who is the most wonderful, caring, sweet, generous, supportive, funny and loving person I know. I don't know what I would do without him in my life.

I am thankful for my two furry children, Bubba Boy and Annabelle. I love to curl up in bed or on the couch with them and fall asleep to the sound of their purrs. I also love that Bubba Boy greets me when I walk in the front door and purrs in my ear when I hold him close. And Annabelle will ALWAYS curl up on my lap and fall asleep when I'm on the computer.

I'm thankful for my loving mother who's also my best friend (after my husband of course) who is always there for me when I need her the most.

I'm thankful for the ability to stay home and not work.

I'm thankful for bright red leaves on a crisp fall day and the smell of winter around the corner.

I'm thankful for this website and the terrific people I've met here, who inspire me everyday.

I'm thankful for having found Casey (Atomic Rose). You put a smile on my face every day that I see an email from you. You are such a sweetheart, and I'm dying to meet you when I'm in Boston in a week or so.

I'm thankful for my family and in-laws, who are always there to lend a hand when the going gets rough.

I'm thankful for my Grandmother who supported me while I was going to college, and cooked fantastic meals for me every night. Not to mention the fact that if it weren't for her, I probably wouldn't be so heavily into cooking and baking as I am.

I am thankful for being an American.

And last, but not least, I'm thankful for God, who watches over my family, my friends, my pets and myself.

You little sweetheart you!

You know I feel the same about you, Barbie. I am VERY grateful to have you in my life; you've helped me out soooo much -- just being there and listening to me rant and rave, and not even being offended when I do something rude (like commenting on your toaster oven -- which, I might add, is very attractive ).

More than anything, I am grateful that you adopted me as your Sis.

Having the best handle on my health than I have for the first time since high school ended

Reconnecting with my BF, who is just so perfect for me, and definately the bestest friend I have ever had and is the biggest sweetie ever and I miss so much when he goes home

My BF's dad making it through his emergency trip to the hospital and survining, when I thought he wouldn't make it

For my VERY own place to live, away from the insanity of my family, and making things work at such a young age

My sister recently acutally being NICE to me and trying to talk to me, when we haven't talked to each other (besides yelling) in over a year

Closing in on my bday and actually being EXCited for once that it is sunday, cause next weekend I get to do so many fun things! Van HElsings Curse concert with Dee Snider (get to wear a cosutem!), sushi, bar hopping, etc (and suspecting a surprise from BF....)

Halloween! My evil pixie costume is nearly complete, pointy latex ears and all...

My tattoo, that I love dearly...

Zombie movies! BF and I are up to 16 Zombie movie totals! I will keep you posted on the Zombie awards...

Nelly's hilarious posts, Heathers and Ruchies sweetie pie posts, JenX and Bevrs awesome board personalities, even though they don't have much time for the boards, Amie's and Casey's cooking expertise, Caryn's intelligant posts (even though she kinda disappeared...), getting to help SaraSage with her recent GG drama , barbie and LS's knowledgableness(is that a word?)... I know there HAS to be more board sistahs that are escaping me at this moment, but EVRYONE has been so important to me...

Getting kicka** grades in school soon...

My stress mgmt professor, that has given me a whole new outlook on life and the meaning of it (Read "Man's Search for Meaning" by Victor Frankl if you haven't, boring, but has a great message)

Feeling sociable and human enough to finally start making more friends!

My newfound vegetarianism, and the working out of my religous and spiritual beliefs.

My perfectly ripe advocado I just made into guacomole and gobbled up with my baked tostitos!

And last, but definately not least, Heather V. and EVERYTING she has done for each and everyone of us, I would give her my first born child if she wanted it J/k of course

You and Tissy and I should start a club

Send us pics of Ireland, ok? It's so BEAUTIFLU there...and you're right, so peaceful! Is it lush and green everywhere or is that just in movies?

Juyst curious....do you work at bein happy or does it come naturally for you? (If this is too personal, i'll understand!) I think most people have to work at being happy...and if that IS the case with you....you're my HERO!

Sending love and no rainy days from work your way

I would like to nominate Miss Ruchie for the most WONDERFUL person EVER award! Sure she's got health probs of her own, but does that stop her?? NO! She comes here and tells us how wonderful we all are

You deserve a 30ft trophy, a million roses, and a monetary reward equal to the current US Treasury debt! I hope you're feeling great today Ruchie, 'cause you just made me a super happy camper!

Making people happy and helping people makes ME HAPPY...it's just the way I am I guess......

The good news is I am finally learning to make myself happy too...and I'm elarning i count

I truly think everyone on these boards is MUCHO special...and I love each an every one of you. Everyone has somehting special to offer this world!

You AMber have no clue how special you are. Seriously, you're SO SUPER! Look at happy you make your boyrfiend...not to mention all the people YOU hel;p on the boardd! You're a fun loving gal with a heart of gold and you're sensative...which to me is one of the ebst qualitites in a person! That means you're kind and caring (sorry to be so vague).

hope you see in yourself how speacil you are like I am beginning to see in myself that's my wish for you

Oh, and I'll take thoise flowers bnow

Thanks for letting me know what you think of me....that's also a wonderful trait in a person. Some people never tell others how they feel about them....and it's too late. Consider yourself Blessed that you you are able to express yourself so opejly...it's a gift!

*huge hugs*

Love,

Ruchie

Hi there! Sorry I just now saw this...I'm home sick and waiting for the drugs to kick in so I can go back to bed!! LOL Thanks for your sweet post... I think you covered everyone....

Oh, and just FYI, Mags called the wedding off a few months ago... it was a real hard time for her...but she has all of us and many people close to her including a new man who takes great care of her.
