I had a field trip to the Community Blood Center last week and learned alot. My area doesn't have a shortage of blood, except the blood bank is always in need for O+ blood. O+ is a universal donor and that is my blood type.
I am donating blood on Thursday for the first time in 10 years. That is really sad. I like to encourage all of you to donate regularly. It is one hour of your time every two months. IBS and the meds you take for it doesn't prevent you from you donating.
Have to go - my kids are getting up for school.

I'm O+ also, unfortunately I can never give blood cause I don't weigh enough. I believe you must weigh 120lbs or more? Is that correct? Anyway, my husband just gave last week. He is a faithful blood donator. He's got some type of card that lists how much he's given in his lifetime and he's nearing something high (pint, gallon?)not sure. He's A+.

Good for you Barb!!!
I'm running another blood drive on Oct 7, so I'll be donating again. Hopefully as long as my iron stays up. Wish me luck!

It's 110 lbs. And I completely commisserate on the not weighing enough. I want to give blood but I've only weighed enough to once since I've been old enough to give blood.
