I believe my IBS (typically C) has gone in a whole other direction. I've noticed my anxiety increasing over the past few months and have been seeing a counselor about it. Anyway, a week or two ago I started noticing that I am leaning toward IBS-D, getting random bouts of nausea throughout the day along with my anxiety and also terrible indigestion (gas cramps so bad overnight--just take a Malox and pray for it subside, which it does by morning). I called the doctor today but she said with IBS, sometimes it can go in the other direction and that is what this sounds like to her. She also said the anxiety/stress exacerbates the whole thing. My question is, what do I eat now? I have Heather's peppermint / ginger pills, which I have tried once so far. I think it helped. Do I really have to revamp my whole diet? Does it last long like this? It's been on and off for over a week now.

Welcome to the board,

It isn't unusual to switch from C to D and back this is known as IBS-A (alternating). Frequently it can be controlled by dietary changes.

Diet question are best asked on the IBS DIET board. Are you following the Heather's Eating for IBS diet? It would be helpful if you could list the foods and snacks you have eaten in the past 2-3 days. It would give us clues for suggestions.
