Commercial Weight Loss/Increase Protein/Decrease Carbs????

Hi Everyone!
I've had IBS forever, and my life changed for the better when I found Heather and the website almost 7 years ago. Unfortunately, I'm overweight, recovering from sciatica (6 weeks of physical therapy anyone?), work a high stress job, and have other health issues resulting in my doctor recommending increasing protein and decreasing carbs.

I'm sick of chicken, turkey, and egg whites! I'm also completely frustrated with trying to figure out how to eat with all of these demands. In my desparation, I'm almost ready to turn to a "meal replacement" program, but I can't even imagine anything that is lactose free, HFCS free, artificial sweetner free, and only contains acceptable protein (you know what I mean. Any ideas to get started are most appreciated.

Hi!! I totally know your frustration. I've had an impossible time losing weight forever. I tried the GI diet which helped a little but with their advocation of artificial sweeteners, it wreaked havoc on my stomach! I'd finally had enough of it and decided to see a naturopathic doctor. She suggested I try this diet (I am seeing her tomorrow for a follow up.):

Breakfast: cream of rice cereal with rice milk or almond milk

Lunch: Protein (chicken, fish, tofu or turkey and not processed so no lunch meat)
1/4 plate brown rice
1/2 plate steamed veggies (NOT raw)

Dinner: Protein (chicken, fish, tofu or turkey and not processed so no lunch meat)
1/2 plate steamed veggies (NOT raw)
Sweet potato (optional. Not regular potatoes or yams)

Snacks: Unsweetened applesauce,
or fruit (max 2 servings per day)
plain, 2% fat nothing added yoghurt.

She said not to use store bought salad dressing or condiments but it's acceptable to make your own oil and vinegar dressing.

Since following this (and exercising every day) I've lost about 5 pounds in one week. (Week 2 is next week.)
It's hard at first but gets easier. Also I have made my own home made soup with ground chicken/turkey, brown rice and veggies.)

No dairy, wheat or pasta.... give this a try!

First time posting. I am new to this but not new to IBS-C. I have been struggling with this for over 20 years and nothing made since til I found this web-site. After reading the menu below I was wondering if those foods mentioned are the only things you eat? I have to watch my carbs so I can maintain my weight but also have to eat carbs as I have low blood sugar. I struggle with the afternoon snack. I like to work out before I eat dinner so if I don't eat enough for a snack then I am really hungry. Eat the wrong thing then I am bloated and tooting along during my aerobic DVD (which is ok if you are in beat with the music) . Any ideas? If anyone knows of a 7 day meal plan in addition to what Heather has in her IBS book, that would be great.
