I want to:

1) lose weight - I'm going back to the behavior modification approach I've tried before.

2) exercise - Right now that means a series of strengthening exercise plus walking - just 5 minutes to start.

3) go back to taking Acacia - I've been doing this so erratically I need to just start over at 1/2 teaspoon a day and work up again.

4) get stricter about following Heather's EFI diet - Once I get stable, I find I can tolerate eating off program from time to time. This is great but once I can tolerate it from time to time I have an unfortunate tendency to do it more often and eventually my tummy rebels. My tummy hasn't quite reached the rebellion stage yet but there's definitely unrest.

To help me stick with my plans, I'm going to be reporting in again: score on behavior mod; exercise; Acacia; and a list of what I'm eating.

Right now I'm finishing up Phase 1 of my behavior mod plan. A full description of that Phase is here . I'll post each day as a reply to this post. Since I'm almost through with Phase 1, I'll just be posting Saturday (yesterday) and Sunday (today). Then on Monday it's on to Phase 2.

Behavior Modification: My score is 0 - Excellent

Exercises: Yes

Walking: No

Acacia: I don't start that until Monday.

Following EFI: There are too many UFOs in my diet so I'm not reporting what I ate.

I just wanted to wish you luck. I am trying to lose weight myself. I too need to get back on the acadia and the diet. I was stable for a long time, but work stress (layoffs, not me yet - but it's coming) has set me back to being unstable and miserable.

Maybe we will both achieve our goals slowly but surely!

Oh goodness, I meant Acacia, not Acadia. I live in Louisiana where things are named Acadiana.

Thanks, Wendy. I really appreciate the support. And good luck to you, too.

(I knew what you meant by "Acadia". Even after all these years, I keep wanting to type "Acacian" for some reason. "Acacia" just doesn't look right to me.)

We have an Acadia State Park up here in Maine and I always get it mixed up with acacia.

I wish you all luck with the weight loss. I am trying to loose a little around the middle or at the very least stay the same because my daughter is getting married June 26th and I am so afraid I will not be able to fit in the dress I bought.

I am taking Elavil for migraines and it also has the added benefit of helping my IBS symptoms. The drawback is that Elavil has a known side effect of weight gain. I knew this going in and normally gaining a few pounds is not big deal except for the wedding and the dress.

I have been exercising 6 days a week on my treadmill, stationary bike and total body gym. Also, really watching my calorie intake. For the first time in many years I am not suffering from nausea which makes it very easy for me to eat more than I normally have in the past.

Oh, yeah, the famous Elavil sweet tooth. Ouch!

I suspect I would be inclined to feel like making up for all those times I couldn't eat when I was nauseous in the past.

Thanks for your good wishes. I'm impressed with your 6 day a week exercise routine and hope to emulate you.

And congratulations on your daughter's wedding.
