The doctors said I've got IBS a few months ago due to symptoms such as diarrhea for two weeks or diarrhea once a month before my period. I'd also feel sick and get stomach aches as well as tears from straining. This is the 6th week I've been constipated now before this I had diarrhea for two weeks and it's horrible. I've been about 4-5 times in this 6 week period. Is this IBS? It's worrying me. I just can't go and I've been to doctors who send me away with Movicol etc. but nothings working. My stomach is quite swollen now and tender. I've also had this constant pain under my left rib for 3 weeks now is this normal? When I eat now It get's worse and It radiates into my chest and my back will ache as well as small spasms all over my entire stomach area. I feel sick and I'm put off from eating due to a phobia of being sick. I've just got Windsetlers and Senokot Max Strength which I'm planning to take before bed tonight. I have taken Senokot mild tablets not the strength ones. Has anyone taken these before and known them to be affective? and is this normal? If so can you give me any tips on to relieve the pain etc. and empty my bowels. I just want to eat again and feel better. It's worrying me. I also feel quite sick often too and get heartburn every now and then.

the only way I found to deal with a similar situation is keep a good mental diary of what I ate - also - I ate the same things everyday for each meal - meaning each meal was different but the same thing each day for that meal. I discovered that oat bran didn't cause problems but wheat bran did - oat bran keeps things moving without the stomach pain for me. I have been using Quaker Oat Bran cereal and snack things. Also - I only use lactaid milk. Also - mild forms of fiber at each meal - say - whole grain tortillas at lunch. Also for some reason extra strength excedrin gets rid of the pain, gets things moving (caffiene in it which is bad for most but doesn't seem to bother me), and doesn't make me nauseous. Go figure. Everyone is different I guess. I still have times when I get really depressed but I can usually trace it back to a particular food. L.
