Hello new to board. I'm 50 yr old man and have ibsc. My last visit to the doctor I asked if there was anything new and he gave me 24mg samples of Amitiza and to my surprise they worked. Had some side affects but felt pretty good. I asked him for a script only to find out that the insurance will only approve women using this medication. Is there anything out there that men can get?

I just looked thi sup. It said something about it not being as effective for men. Not sure why. Seems kind of silly to me.

"Although AMITIZA is only approved for use in women with IBS-C, it doesn't mean that the drug doesn't work for men. Unfortunately, we just haven't had enough men represented in these studies to make a firm decision on treatment using this drug," notes Chey.

I suffer from anxiety, depression, IBS, and lactose intolerance. I think they are all related. If anyone has any suggestions or just want to talk, shoot me an email. I'd love to talk to people with similar symptoms, people who can understand what I am going through. I am also waiting for a kidney transplant. Thanks and God bless you all!
