I competed in a duathlon on Sunday and really pushed it and finished in less time than I had thought I could. Afterward I felt ok but tired and then ate a small muffin and some fruit they had there. I stood up and had a lot of pain in my gut so I wanted to get home ASAP. I assumed I would have D (I took an immodium before the race just in case) or even vomit. I didn't- just had a little poo when I got home and showered and went to bed. I felt so awfully tired I couldn't believe it! I had trained for the race. Then I felt tired all evening and now for 2 days I have been so tired and so sore and my cold is back and my hunger/digestion is off. I am not sure how I should have handled eating after the race or what would make me feel better. Any ideas?

I am not sure what could cause your problems since you've been training. Maybe you didn't eat enough? It sounds like you had carbs, but maybe you needed protein. I'm sure the yuckiness will pass.

Congrats!! That is awesome. How long have you trained? Did you exercise in the mornings or evenings? While I am not interested in doing any marathons, I am ready to amp up my exercise. I am having a hard time staying committed.

I need to lose about 30 pounds. I am C mainly, but D with stress. I was wondering if intense exercise would help with the C. I feel like I use my IBS as an excuse to not exercise and be lazy. I am trying to change that. Anyways, good job!! You should be very proud.

I think your C would improve with exercise and the resulting increased water. I have to exercise or I don't feel as good and don't sleep as well. Doing the duathlon was a way to push myself from exercising often to being an athlete. I haven't really lost weight but have toned a lot. There were all sorts of figures and ages at this event! So everyone can do it. You might find something in your area that will give you incentive to keep exercising. Even a 5k run/walk or something.
I always exercise in the morning. I get so bloated later in the day I would feel too yucky to work out. Luckily I can eat breakfast and exercise within 30 minutes (meanwhile I go to the bathroom).
I think the race brought my cold back and I may have a sinus infection. DH is fighting the cold too. I felt somewhat better today but was so lethargic and weak. I was digging potatoes and had no energy to do it. I think I might get a B12 shot tomorrow. I am going backpacking next week and need to feel ok again.
