I need help! I know there is no true way to lose weight quickly (well, not without taking diet pills anyway), it takes time & effort. But I'm getting married in October, and I need to lose about 5-10 lbs. I've been trying to lose weight for a while but I keep getting sick or injured. I've been doing my best to watch my diet. I've been walking on my treadmill & lifting kettlebells. Right now I have a pinched nerve in my shoulder so I haven't been able to exercise for the past week. I have approx 2 months to lose the weight. Does anyone have any ideas that will help me? Or am I just outta luck?

Can you run on the treadmill instead of walk? What changes are you trying to make in your diet? I think weight loss is different for everyone, but increasing exercise and decreasing calorie intake usually should work...

when will it end?

When you're not working out your must cut your portions... but don't let the pinched nerve in your neck stop you from breaking a sweat. Do any workout that won't stress your neck (talk to your doctor). Pilates was created to keep dancers/gymnasts fit when they couldn't do a regular workout because of injury. Try leg lifts, pelvis curls, scissors and don't forget to stretch. This will work your lower body, abs and back. Do them slowly and relaxed and don't let your neck and shoulders do any of the work.
Good Luck!

I read a lot about dieting and am chronically on those last 10 (ok, 15) lbs. There's no sub for portion control and avoiding sweets, much to my dismay. Have protein at each meal the size of your palm so you don't go hungry and binge. Eat 4-5 small meals, rather than 3 big meals. Eat breakfast. Oddly enough, even if you are consuming a few more calories in the day, it revs your metabolism. Don't eat after 7pm, but have some tea if you like. I like Celestial Seasonings English Toffee dessert tea. Drink lots of water. For exercise, try to do something every day, even if it is just a 10 minute stroll around the block. Using weights will help increase your metabolism. Maybe you can use small handweights weights with your injury, or use a recumbant stationary bike? Try finding videos that focus on core, bum and legs. Don't do anything that hurts or gives you a twinge. Green tea is said to induce weight loss, but the caffeine may cause more trouble than it is worth. Good Earth makes a tasty lemongrass decaf green tea that you may be able to tolerate. Remember that even decaf tea has some caffeine. If it bothers you, you can remove more caffeine by letting the tea steep for 30 seconds, then tossing the water and steeping the same tea in fresh hot water as usual.
Congratulations, and remember your prospective spouse loves you as you are. Even with ten extra pounds at the wedding, it will be a perfect day.
