Got up 6:40 am.

Breakfast (7:00 am): 1 hard boiled egg white, 1 cup Vanilla Rice Krispies + 1 tbs wheat bran cereal with 1 cup light soy milk, 2 1/2 tsp Acacia.

It is 8:52 am and I have still not had a BM. I feel pretty C right now - for the first time in weeks!

Snack (10:45): carrot pineapple muffin with light margarine. Now 11:30 am and still no BM, and still feel like I have to go.

Lunch (12:30 pm): canned chicken sandwich on Save-On white bread, light Miracle Whip and margarine, mustard. Peppermint tea. Still no BM - tummy is pretty uncomfortable.

Snack (3:10 pm): 6 blanched almonds. Still uncomfortable. On a scale of 1-10 it's about 3.5 - not fun but definately bearable.

Dinner (5:30 pm): Tofu stir fry (rice, tofu, brocolli, Egg Beaters, onion, garlic, Worcestershire sauce, paprika), multivitamin, 1 tbs Acacia, 1 mini Cadbury Creme Egg. Did 10 minutes on my stationary bike.

Snack (8:30 pm): about 1/4 cup of crushed pineapple with juice, 1 slice white bread with margarine.

Still no BM. Feeling a little less uncomfortable. Looks like it won't be happening today. So much for my C-free streak.

Got up 8:50 am.

Had a BM at 9:10 am! Yay! It was very firm (typical of a day after being C), small to moderate volume.

Breakfast (9:30 am) Glass of light soy milk with 2 1/2 tsp Acacia, oatmeal with cinnamon and brown sugar, 2 slices Save-On white toast with light margarine.

Had another very small BM at 10:10 - fairly soft but very small volume.

Lunch (1:15 pm): ham and avocado sandwich with light miracle whip, margerine, and mustard. Yummy!

Snack (3:30 pm): large graham cracker and 1/2 banana

Dinner (5:15 pm): Lemon Herb Pasta Salad with Chicken, over baby spinach (hope that doesn't come back and bite me!). Multivitamin, and 1 tbs Acacia. Did 10 minutes on my stationary bike.

Snacks (8:30 pm): So Nice peach soy yogurt. (10:30 pm): 1 large graham cracker. (11:40 pm): 1/2 tsp peanut butter.

Got up at 9:30 am.

BM at 10:00 - it was firm, small volume, but when I wiped it was really mushy, which doesn't make much sense. There was also red pepper skins in it - okay that would be from the pasta salad last night! I feel fine though.

Breakfast (10:15 am): mushroom omelet made with Egg Beaters, two slices white toast, one with margarine and marmelade, the other with margarine and strawberry jam. 2 1/2 tsp Acacia mixed in a glass of light soy milk.

Lunch (2:15 pm): Cambell's Chunky Split Pea Soup with 3 saltine crackers. One slice Heather's chocolate applesauce cake.

Dinner (5:15 pm): Vegetable Lo Mein, made with celery. Multivitamin and 1 tbs Acacia. Did 10 minutes on stationary bike.

Snacks (6:50 pm): 1 mini Cadbury Creme Egg. (8:00 pm): Neopolitan soy ice cream.

Got up 6:30 am (ugh - Mondays).

BM at about 7:00 am - medium consistency but mushy wipe again. Moderate volume, all one piece.

Breakfast (7:05 am): hard-boiled egg white, 1 cup Rice Krispies with about 1 tbs wheat bran cereal, 1 cup light soy milk with 2 3/4 tsp Acacia.

The drive to work was a little dicey this morning. Had that "nervous tummy" feeling so I had to go into my meditative zone during the whole drive. As soon as I got to work I had another BM - very small volume but thin and very soft. The urgency was mild but still - I didn't like it. I think I'll have to lay off the mini Cadbury Creme Eggs for awhile and see what happens. They've been my only real cheat since Christmas.

Snack (11:00 am): slice of Heather's Chocolate Applesauce Cake. Tummy has been slightly crampy/nervous for most of the morning. Not bad, but not great either.

Lunch (12:30 pm): Black forest ham sandwich on Safeway white bread, with light margarine, Miracle Whip, and mustard. Peppermint tea. Tummy seems to be feeling better.

Snack (2:45 pm): 3 blanched almonds. (3:55 pm): 1 plain rice cake.

Dinner (5:45 pm): Orangle glazed salmon (marmelade, soy sauce, ground ginger), rice and peas. Multivitamin, 1 tbs Acacia. Did 10 minutes on bike.

Snacks: tiny piece of dairy free dark chocolate, peach soy yogurt, 1 slice of white bread (end piece) with light margarine.

Got up 6:35 am. Had a BM about 10 minutes later, started with a hard pebble, but then turned into 100% normal - compact, well-formed, clean wipe - perfect.

Breakfast (7:05 am): hard-boiled egg white, 1 cup Rice Krispies with about 1 tbs wheat bran cereal, 1 cup light soy milk with 2 3/4 tsp Acacia.

Snack (10:50 am): slice Heather's chocolate applesauce cake. Mmmm...

Lunch (12:45 pm): California roll with soy sauce. Peppermint tea.

Snack (3:45 pm): Nut and Cranberry Luna bar.

Dinner (6:00 pm): 2 Shneiders low-fat hot dogs with ketchup, mustard, relish on Safeway white bread. Multivitamin, 1 tbs Acacia.

Snacks: tiny piece of dairy-free dark chocolate. Slice of Heather's chocolate applesauce cake with light margarine.

I actually weighed and measured myself today - weight was 132.5 lbs (which means I've lost 16.5 lbs since starting this diet!), and waist was a surprising 29.5". I can't remember the last time it was below 31. Hips = 39 (no change) and can you believe I forgot to measure my bust . Bailey was eyeing the measuring tape so maybe I got distracted. But my bras feel REALLY generous in the cups so I know I've lost some there, too.

Got up 6:30 am.

Had a BM about 6:50 am - med-firm, pebbly in various sizes, moderate volume. Went again about 20-25 minutes later, med-soft, very mild urgency, small volume. Thought I'd be nervous driving to work but I wasn't too bad.

Breakfast (7:00 am): hard-boiled egg white, 1 cup Rice Krispies with about 1 tbs wheat bran cereal, 1 cup light soy milk with 2 3/4 tsp Acacia.

Snack (10:50 am): slice Heather's chocolate applesauce cake.

Lunch (12:30 pm): Black forest ham sandwich on Safeway white bread, with light margarine, Miracle Whip, and mustard. Peppermint tea.

Snack (3:30 pm): 4 blanched almonds, 1 plain rice cake

Dinner (5:45 pm): organic spaghetti with zuchinni primavera tomato sauce, 1 slice garlic bread (light margarine and minced garlic). Multivitamin and 1 tbs Acacia.

Snacks: 1 banana, about a tsp peanut butter.

Got up 6:35 am. Had a BM right away - firm pebbly pieces, moderate volume, very dark in colour. Barely had time to wash my face and I had to go again - this time was softer, about the same volume but not pebbly, slight orange tinge (last night's spaghetti sauce no doubt).

Breakfast (7:00 am): hard-boiled egg white, 1 cup Rice Krispies with about 1 tbs wheat bran cereal, 1 cup light soy milk with 2 3/4 tsp Acacia.

Snack (10:50 am): slice of Heather's chocolate applesauce cake.

Took a Tylenol with codeine at about 11:55 am for a headache. Guess I should record those, too!

Lunch (12:30 pm): Black forest ham sandwich on Safeway white bread, with light margarine, Miracle Whip, and mustard. Peppermint tea.

Snack (4:00 pm): plain rice cake

Dinner (5:50 pm): ground turkey, potato, carrot, rice "stirfry" (also contained garlic, onion, italian seasoning, soy sauce). Multivitamin, 1 tbs Acacia.

Snacks: tiny piece dairy-free dark chocolate, 1 banana, 1/2 tsp peanut butter. And had a couple of sips of hubby's rum and diet coke.

Yay, Friday!!! Got up 6:35 am. Had a BM about 6:55 am, med-firm, one piece, small volume. Went again about 20 minutes later, softer, about the same volume.

Breakfast (7:00 am): hard-boiled egg white, 1 cup Rice Krispies with about 1 tbs wheat bran cereal, 1 cup light soy milk with 2 3/4 tsp Acacia.

Snack (11:00 am): slice of Heather's chocolate applesauce cake.

Lunch (12:45 pm): Turkey sub from Mr. Sub (with lettuce, tomato, pickles, mushrooms, onions, and mustard). Walked up there to get it - I almost didn't but it felt SO good to get out and go for that walk (about 4 blocks total there and back). I should do this more often - I'm so darn lazy!

Also had a peppermint tea at 1:50 pm.

Snack (3:50 pm): plain rice cake.

Dinner (5:30 pm): sushi (assorted rolls: california, alaska, spicy tuna, cucumber, pickle). Multivitamin, 1 tbs Acacia.

Snack (9:00 pm): banana

Got up 9:25 am.

Breakfast (10:00 am): scrambled Egg Beaters with salt, pepper, and chives. 2 slices toast (one with strawberry jam and one with marmelade). Glass of soy milk with 2 3/4 tsp Acacia.

10:30 am: Okay - that was weird. I felt like I had to have a BM and when I went it was quite D-like. I didn't feel at all like it was going to be D. It was VERY soft, sort of broke up in the water, and disintegrated when I flushed. It was a small volume, and I still feel fine, but it was unnerving enough that I sent hubby grocery shopping without me. I wonder if it was last night's sushi - probably.

Lunch (1:00 pm): 3 pieces California roll with soy sauce. Went for a walk to Value Village for the heck of it. That counts as exercise! Tummy still feels fine. (2:45 pm): ham sandwich on white bread with light margarine, miracle whip, mustard and a wee squirt of honey.

Dinner (5:30 pm): Shrimp fried rice, multivitamin, 1 ybs Acacia.

Snacks: cherry chocolate amaretto soy ice cream; rice pudding with a few raisins.

Lunch (2:00 pm): peanut butter and banana sandwich. 1/2 applesauce muffin.

This is all new to me. is working up to a certain amount of the powder a day a problem? i keep reading the word "gradually," as if something worse than the IBS will occur.

Introducing a fiber supplement in too high a quantity too quickly can cause an increase in bloating and gas. You should start out with 1/2 tsp a day and increase by no more than 1/2 tsp per week.

Fiber, tea and diet is about all I'm doing right now so that's about all I can tell you... except that exercise and plenty of water can really help. The fiber is useless without drinking lots of water throughout the day (herbal tea counts!) and exercise - even just a quick walk around the block - can do wonders for gas, constipation, and even general discomfort.

Got up 6:30 am. Had a BM about 6:55 am - medium consistency, moderate volume, one large pebble then the rest was all one piece.

Breakfast (7:00 am): hard-boiled egg white, 1 cup Rice Krispies + 1 tbs wheat bran cereal, 1 cup soy milk (Silk Plus) with 1 tbs Acacia.

Snack (10:50 am): applesauce muffin.

Feeling a little extra gassy today for some reason...

Lunch (12:30 pm): ham sandwich on Safeway white bread, with light margarine, Miracle Whip, and mustard. Two pieces of California roll. Peppermint tea.

After lunch (1:30 pm) I had a VERY small BM - just a couple of little tiny thin pieces (like, about an inch long). There MAY have actually been some mucous in it, but I'm not sure (it could have come from the front - I'm in the middle of my cycle so that is actually quite likely). I haven't had mucous since I started EFI so that would suck if I do have it now...

Snack (4:00 pm): plain rice cake

Dinner (5:30 pm): 2 low-fat hot dogs on white bread, with ketchup, mustard, relish. Multivitamin, 1 tbs Acacia. Did 10 minutes on stationary bike.

Snacks: applesauce muffin, 1 large graham cracker.

without sounding too graphic - my issue(s) in the past have been hard stool create anal fissures - which cause bleeding. Will the powder create such a hard stool that i will be straining to create a bowel movement?

Got up 6:25 am. Had a BM about 6:45, med-firm, moderate volume, all one piece. Went again just after breakfast, med-soft, moderate volume again. Almost thought I was going to go a third time right before leaving for work, but I didn't.

Breakfast (6:55 am): hard-boiled egg white, 1 cup Rice Krispies + 1 tbs wheat bran cereal, 1 cup soy milk (Silk Plus) with 1 tbs Acacia.

Snack (10:15 am): 2 saltine crackers. (10:50 am): applesauce muffin.

Tummy has been a bit nervous/crampy this morning, but that's probably because I have a doctor's appointment this afternoon. Dumb nerves!

Okay, just had another BM (11:30 am), soft, small volume. Having a peppermint tea now.

Lunch (12:30 pm): ham sandwich on Safeway white bread, with light margarine, Miracle Whip, and mustard.

Snack (3:55 pm): plain rice cake. I'm back from the doctor's and of course my tummy is perfectly fine now. I wish I could tell my nerves to take a hike!

Dinner (5:45 pm): Yves Veggie burger on sesame seed bun with light miracle whip, ketchup, and mustard. "Fries" with rosemary and salt. Multivitamin and 1 tbs Acacia.

Got up about 9:50 am.

Breakfast (10:50 am): glass soy milk (silk plus) with 1 tbs Acacia, oatmeal with brown sugar and cinnamon, with toasted hamburger bun with light margerine.

Went grocery shopping and then spent 2 AND A HALF HOURS vacuuming my apartment (kitties have fleas so I did all the crevices along the wall, all the furniture, and underneath all the furniture). Now THAT'S exercise!

Snack/late Lunch (3:55 pm): chicken sandwich on sourdough english muffin with light margarine and Miracle Whip.

No BM yet today... even though I do feel like I sort of have to go.

Dinner (6:00 pm): chicken breast with red pepper seasoning, potatoes, brocolli, carrots, stuffing, a tiny bit of gravy (had dinner at a friend's). Also had a bite of roast beef - just to taste it.

Snacks: half a peanut butter and strawberry jam sandwich, half a banana, glass of Silk plus, Wal-Mart multivitamin, 1 tbs Acacia

Never did have that BM...

Got up 9:10 am. Had a BM about 9:30 am - medium consistency, all one piece, moderate to large volume.

Weighed and measured myself this morning:
Weight: 134.5 lbs (up a bit)
Bust: 37
Waist: 29
Hips: 38

Breakfast (10:50 am): glass soy milk (silk LIGHT) with 1 tbs Acacia, oatmeal with brown sugar and cinnamon, with two slices white toast with light margerine.

Had another small BM about 11:30 am - med-soft, small volume, two thin pieces. It is 12:00 now and I am feeling a little crampy and gassy - and it's nice and smelly - Probably last night's dinner...

Had ANOTHER BM at 12:30 pm. Soft, largish volume, couple of long pieces, but fairly soft. There was undigested carrot in the wipe. Definately having an iffy tummy day here.

Lunch (2:00 pm) canned ham sandwich on white bread with light margarine, Miracle Whip, and mustard. Peppermint tea. Tummy gradually feeling better.

Dinner (5:05 pm): homemade turkey chili, Walmart multivitamin, 1 Cadbury mini creme egg, 1 tbs Acacia.

Snack (8:40 pm): homemade turkey chili

Got up 9:25 am. Feeling absolutely miserable with this cold - laryngitis, sinus infection, coughing up crap - ugh!!!!

Breakfast (10:45 am): oatmeal with brown sugar and cinnamon, 1 slice toast with light margarine, glass light soy milk with 1 tbs Acacia.

Lunch (1:00 pm): Amy's non-dairy burrito. Had a Neo Citran at about 3:00 pm.

Dinner (6:30 pm): homemade chicken chow mein (chicken, onion, peas, Mr. Noodles chow mein noodles, broth, soy sauce). Multivitamin, 1 tbs Acacia.

I have not had a BM today. For most of the day I didn't feel like I needed to go, so I didn't think I was really C. But right around dinner time I started to get that C feeling. Grrr...

Snack: 4 saltines with soy herb cream cheese.

Got up 8:50 am. This cold is still hanging in there, so I'm taking a sick day.

Took a shower pretty much right away, felt like I had to have a BM but by the end of my shower I was scrambling to get dried off so I could make it to the toilet - it was a perfectly normal BM (long, well formed, moderate volume), I just had major urgency.

Breakfast: oatmeal with brown sugar and cinnamon with 1 tbs Acacia stirred in, hard-boiled egg white.

About 10:30 had another urgent BM - again it was fairly normal, though a bit softer. About the same volume as previous, there were a few specks of tomato in the wipe.

Lunch (12:30 pm): deli chciken sandwich on toasted English muffin with light margarine, miracle whip, and very thin slice of tomato.

Snack: cup-a-soup (spring vegetable)

Dinner (5:45 pm): chicken breast in chipotle marinade, with rice and peas, multivitamin, 1 tbs Acacia.

Snacks: tiny piece dark chocolate, 4 saltines with herb soy cream cheese, very small glass light soy milk.

I just use the Safeway brand All Bran cereal. I've been eating it (in some quantity or another) for years. It's been a long time since I read the ingredients but I'm pretty sure it doesn't contain artificial sweeteners or anything else "forbidden".

It could be a number of things making me C:

1. I'm on my 10th day of a cold right now and I've been taking a lot of Tylenol with codeine for the pain (I'm gettign awful headaches and sinus pain). Codeine can cause C in a lot of people so that may be it right there.

2. I haven't been as diligent with my water intake over the last few days. I tend to slow down on drinking water when I get sick because it either irritates my throat or makes the post-nasal drip worse, or both. Today I have been trying extra hard to drink more water!

3. I started my period yesterday and my system may be a little wacky from it - who knows!

4. I've been a weeeeee bit bad with chocolate lately - partly because I am sick and ALMOST not caring, but it's not like I've been going crazy. I've been eating Cadbury mini Creme eggs here and there (never more than one in a day), I had a Hershey's Kiss yesterday, and besides that I've been treating myself to some dairy-free dark chocolate too. But it's NEVER more than one little piece at a time. It's not like I sit down and eat a whole bar or anything!

Anyway I think it's some combination of all of the above, particularly the codeine and reduced water intake. I hope I can go soon though, my tummy is quite uncomfortable and all I want to do is go to the bathroom!

Hi binok... I honeslty haven't been trying to lose weight on this diet, it's just been a nice side effect. Part of the diet is to eat very low fat, and for the first time in my life I've been extremely diligent about keeping everything low fat. It has paid off, in more ways than one!

Got up 6:15 am.

Breakfast (7:00 am): 1 cup Rice Krispies + 1 tbs wheat bran cereal, 1 cup light soy milk with 1 tbs Acacia.

Had a BM about 7:25 am, slightly urgent, semi-soft. Needed to enter my "meditative zone" on the ride to work, but ended up being okay.

Snack (10:55 am): slice banana bread with light margarine.

Been having that slight "nervous tummy" feeling all morning but it is beginning to subside.

Had another BM about 12:20 pm. Soft, moderate volume, mild to moderate urgency, bits of tomato in it. Not having a happy tummy day.

Lunch (12:30 pm): sundried tomato turkey sandwich, peppermint tea. Tummy seems to be settling.

Snacks: 6 blanched almonds, plain rice cake

Dinner: ground turkey, potato, carrot, rice stir fry. Multivitamin, 1 tbs Acacia. Did 10 minutes on bike.

Snacks: tiny piece dark chocolate, 1 large graham cracker.

At about 12:20, I had a ridiculously small BM - just a marble-sized firm little ball - but at least it was something. I always feel slightly better when I can get something out. Still feleing like there's more, though!

Lunch (12:30 pm): sundried tomato turkey sandwich, peppermint tea.

About mid-afternoon I had another ridiculously small BM - another couple of "marbles".

Snacks: 4 blanched almonds, plain rice cake

Dinner: Yves Veggie Chick'n burger on white bun with miracle whip and honey mustard, "fries" with ketchup. Multivitamin, 1 tbs Acacia. 10 minutes on bike.

Snacks: tiny piece dark chocolate, 1 Jam Jam

I've been too lazy to keep my journal today! I ate all the usual foods today, so nothing weird there. I had a pretty soft, semi-urgent, heavy-volume BM this morning right before leaving for work that I sort of balme on last night's spaghetti sauce (it seemed to bother me before), but no major problems. I wasn't even nervous driving to work!

Ate all the usual stuff today, except had sushi for dinner (1 California roll, 1 piece ebi, 1 piece smokey roll). I sort of overate and that probably explains the brief D-like cramps I experienced a couple of hours later. Seem okay now!

Went to the Cap Suspension Bridge today, so that definitely counts as excercise!

Went to Kelsey's for lunch afterwards, had a Roasted Vegetabel Wrap that was very good and doesn't seem to have given me any problems.

Pretty usual day, only thing different is that I have started taking a prenatal vitamin as opposed to a regular multivitamin.

Had 2 BMs this morning, about 30 minutes apart. First was med-firm, changing to med-soft, large volume. Second was much softer, moderate volume, orange tinged. I'm starting to think tomatoes don't really agree with me (had Balasamic Tomato Rice for dinner last night).

Breakfast (7:00 am): 1 hard-boiled egg white, 1 cup Rice Krispies + 1 tbs wheat bran cereal with 1 cup light soy milk. 1 tbs Acacia.

Snack (10:55 am): english muffin with light margarine

Lunch (12:30 pm): chicken sandwich

Snack: 5 blanched almonds

I've been really slacking with this lately! I guess I'm starting to feel like I don't need it anymore - which is GREAT!

Anyway we went out for sushi last night with our friends - I had teriyaki salmon and a Clifornia Roll. It was probbaly the teriyaki sauce, but this morning my tummy has actually felt slightly off. I had a very soft BM shortly after getting up, and was a little nervous about going grocery shopping with hubby. I later decided I would probably be fine going out, but by then just plain didn't feel like it. :P

Just a lesson in restaurant teriyaki sauce. It probably had tons of honey and therefore was high in fructose. I mean, the salmon was positively drenched in it.
