FEBRUARY 2008

2/29/08
Gym: OFF, I went to a martini party after work at a friends house from high school. Shane got stuck at work and there is no way we could have made it on time..... then again, it ended up taking ME almost 2-1/2 hours to get there during rush hour traffic that I COULD have waited for him to get home and change and by that time the rush would have been over and we still would have ended up getting there an hour late..... It was a lot of fun and I think I made a few new friends too!

2/28/08
Gym: 10 mins stretching of legs, 37 mins in the weight room working on, arms and chest THEN "Kick-It" class (kickboxing, included abs & stretching at the end), worked out 1 hour + 47 mins, burned 657 calories at 40% fat.

AFTER THE GYM TODAY I WENT OVER MY WORKOUT GOAL FOR FEBRUARY BY 207 MINUTES!!

Shane & I are going to a martini party friday night after work at a freinds house from high school. Shane's last drink was in April 2004, I'm not much of a drinker anymore and I'm not much of a martini person but we are trying to be more social.

2/27/08
Gym: 15 mins stretching of legs, 39 mins in the weight room working on legs, arms, chest, THEN "Kick-It" class (kickboxing, included abs & stretching at the end), worked out 1 hour + 54 mins, burned 694 calories at 45% fat. I WENT OVER MY GOAL OF WORKING OUT 2,000 MINUTES IN FEBRUARY BY 100 MINUTES AND I STILL HAVE THURSDAY TO COUNT IN THOSE NUMBERS....

I also booked an appointment to have this water tank test to see what my body fat is on March 25th www.bodyfattest.com

2/26/08

Only 14 more minutes and I will have made my workout goal for Feb of 2,000 minutes of exercise!! I've still got Wed & Thurs to make it... NO PROBLEM!! I'm taking Fri off to go to a Martini Party... I've never been to one and I'm really not a drinker and Shane does not drink ....be we are trying to be more "social"

Anyway, we don't see each other nearly enough so it was great to spend time with her. The third is Kathy who trained me for my current job back in 1999 and we just kinds "clicked" and have become really good friends. Turns out that Sara & Traci went to Jr high together and Kathy & Traci live in the same neighborhood and there boys are in the same class....SMALL WORLD!!

I GOT TANKED!! www.BodyFatTest.com

Turns out I have more LEAN pounds then I thought!!
Currently (and no surprise to me) my body fat percent is at the start of the "Very Poor" rating.... 38.4% but good new is... if I lose about 25# of FAT that will make me 31%. "Obesity, or excessive body fat, is generally defined as a value greater then 32%" I've got a ways to go....but I will take it about 8 weeks at a time and then will get TANKED again!!

Here is a link to a clip on CNN of someone getting "Tanked"

http://www.cnn.com/video/#/video/health/2007/04/12/fortin.ca lculate.body.fat.cnn

Gym: 10 mins stretching of legs, 23 mins working arms & chest, THEN "Kick-It" class (kickboxing, included abs & stretching at the end) worked out 1 hour + 33 mins, burned 587 calories at 45% fat.

Dinner: Trader Joe's Lemongrass Chicken Stix and about a tablespoon Safeway Brand (Eating Right) Asian Sesame Ginger vinaigrette dressing spray....I just sprayed into a tiny espresso cup and microwave for 15 seconds and it became my dip.

Snack: 100 calorie pack UFO

3/24/08
Hope everyone had a wonderful Easter... ours was good, we spent the day at Mom's.

My hubby took this of me after I came from a Pure Romance party (girl's night) 3/8/08, he liked the outfit!
I'm down 68.5# in this picture since my lap band surgery on 6/21/07.

Breakfast: 1/4 package of Trader Joe's frozen steel cut oatmeal

Snack: 2oz turkey jerky

Went for my follow up Dr appointment from my ER visit last Tues when I had Vertigo. I as not able to get in to see him until today....so I had not gone back to the gym yet. He did lots of tests to see if he could recreate what happened...but nope...no dizzy!! He also thinks I was dehydrated, he can see it in my skin even on my hands. I'm trying really hard to drink more even if I'm not thirsty.

Lunch : 2/3 of a bowl of Taco Time white chicken chili....

Gym: 10 mins stretching of legs, 64 mins working arms, chest, legs & back, THEN "Kick-It" class (kickboxing, included abs & stretching at the end) worked out 2 hour + 14 mins, burned 857 calories at 40% fat. I SOOOO NEEDED THAT... and I was missed too!!

3/22/08
Well, finally I'm DONE at Grandma's old place and the new one is coming together. This is the first weekend day in weeks that I've been able to take care of MY HOUSE and spend some time with Shane!!

Lunch: bowl of Taco Time white chicken chili

Shane & I went to the salon and got SpaPed, waxing, I got my nails filled and he got a manicure...it was nice to spend time together. On the way home, we stopped and looked at a Condo for sale that caught our eye....more on that another time IF it becomes anything. Then we went to Bed Bath & Beyond and dropped $100 in the blink of an eye!! LOL

Dinner: 1/4 cup eggbeater, 1 frozen waffle, 2 Jimmy Dean fully cooked turkey sausage links (cooked on the stove top NOT microwave), about 1 tablespoon 100% maple syrup.

Snack: 100 calorie pack UFO

3/20/08
Well, I've had a few strange days to say the least!! 3/18, I came to work... normal day, then all of a sudden everything was blurry, I could not focus, I was sick to my stomach... well, my sister ended up taking me to the ER and turns out I had Vertigo. I have to call my primary Dr Friday morning for a follow up in hopes that he has a cancellation since he was booked both Thurs & Fri. I stayed home Wed and slept ALL DAY... I'm not kidding ALL DAY!! I had to cancel my Fill apt on 3/18, but you know what the coolest thing was?? I had called www.NWWLS.com to cancel and to let them know I was going to the ER, I wanted to give them a heads up in case for some reason I would need a total unfill if the vomiting out really bad. They asked that I call back and let them know how things went. Well, I was getting something to eat after leaving the ER and NWWLS called my cell phone to check on me and Dr. Michaelson said to give me his cell phone number in case I needed him for anything... now how many other surgeons do you know that would do that???? I thought that was pretty cool!!

I'm at work today and will go to Grandma's new place after work (she is going there for the 1st time tonight)..... not sure what else needs to be done at the old place still.

I've lost more weight too.... but I've also had a hard time getting in my fluids and solids as well... I'm sipping on some tea now and then will try some turkey jerky. Maybe the gym on Saturday???? (crossing fingers)

3/17/08
Well, I've been up to my eyeballs in Grandma's place....I started cleaning/sorting/packing... on 3/6 and I'm not done with the old place yet.... the movers came 3/16 and there is still stuff that had to leave with me because there is not room for it in her new place. Most of the family helped this weekend.... but the week before I was pretty much on my own.... except for a few hours here and there. I have not seen my hubby hardly at all either, his long hours kept him from helping me because he had to be in bed long before I would be home since he gets up and the crack of freaken early!! And NO GYM since 3/7 and TOM was here the whole week too

In the last 10 days I've had a fill (.4 cc) and an unfill (.4 cc) the very next day, it was too tight and I could not even get water down. So, we are letting it "heal" and then I will get another fill tomorrow (.2cc) this time. I've managed to drop 4.5 pounds also.....

I'm dropping out of the March Challenge also, since I don't see myself back at the gym until the weekend.... there is NO WAY I'm going to make my goal of 2500 minutes and I don't have anyway of knowing how many minutes of "Grandma stuff" could count towards it.....so I'll start fresh in April.

Don't get me wrong.... it's not that I'm just sitting on my butt.... TRUST ME.. I'm getting a workout, I just don't have anyway of "tracking" the minutes that would count... i.e. I was worked on Grandma's stuff for 12 hours Sunday between the two apartments.... but how much of that was standing in one place unpacking a box, how much was stairs, how much was bending over...etc etc etc.... All I know is I've been very active but don't have a clue how to track it to be "fair" in the challenge if ya know what I mean?? April SHOULD HOPEFULLY slow down for me and I can't wait to get back to my kickboxing classes.... I'm having withdrawals big time!!

3/6/08
Gym: Went to Grandma's to start cleaning/packing... took bundles of moving boxes upstairs. My sister and I spent 3 hard hours cleaning and packing.....the place is a total mess... she had been sorting and there is really no rim nor reason to the madness!! Turns out she did also have a mild heart attack as well as the asthma attack, and they are keeping her for a few more days. I've got a donation truck scheduled for the 12th and the movers are coming on the 16th. It's gonna be a LONG couple of weeks. When they discharge her from the hospital, she will stay at my aunt & uncles (he is the oldest of the kids), until we have her BRAND NEW apartment ready for her. AT GRANDMA'S I did 2 hrs + 54 mins, but will only count 1/2 of the minutes towards my goal since I was not "moving" 100% of the time.... but maybe have been moving my arms or something! LOL Worked out 1 hour + 27 mins, burned 202 calories at 60% fat.

3/5/08
Got up this morning to get ready for work... was packing my gym bag and my cell phone rang..... it was my Aunt calling to tell me that Grandma was in the ER. Major asthma attack..... she has been going thur crap in her apartment that was loaded with dust...etc because we are moving this 90 year old into a Senior Living apartment on the 16th. Needless to say, SHE will not be returning to her place to do any packing. She is stable, the tube has been removed, but she was about 3 min's from brain damage when my uncle got the call and he said, "save her" when they asked if there was a living will.

Gym: I stopped at the public storage on my way to the gym to get boxes, tape, newsprint for wrapping, etc for moving Grandma...(I will start packing/cleaning her place out on Thurs. So, after that....I get to the gym later then normal because I stopped at storage. Drive around and around to find parking. Get into the locker room to change and NO WORKOUT SHIRT OR BRA IN MY GYM BAG!! That would have been because I got thrown off after the phone call this morning. So, now there is no way for me to get home, changed, back, and stretched in time for the class so I said screw it... I'll do something at home. AT HOME I did 54 mins working arms, chest, legs, abs & stretching at the end. Worked out 54 mins, burned 131 calories at 60% fat.

3/4/08
Gym: 10 mins stretching of legs, 32 mins working arms, chest, & legs, then "Kick-It" class (kickboxing, included abs & stretching at the end) worked out 1 hour + 42 mins, burned 841 calories at 50% fat.

NSV (non scale victory) - I FINALLY got my back ordered 2 XL workout dry tech shirts in the mail...guess what? THEY ARE TOO FREAKEN BIG!! So, I will have to ship them back and hopefully they will have the 1 XL in stock!!

3/3/08
Gym: 15 mins stretching of legs, 42 mins working arms, chest, abs, & back, then "Maximum Sculp" class (weights, included abs & stretching at the end) THEN "Kick-It" class (kickboxing, included weights, abs & stretching at the end) worked out 2 hour + 57 mins, burned 841 calories at 50% fat.

3/2/08
Gym: OFF........Costco run.... spent an well over an hour, going up and down every isle, it had been forever since I'd been there. Laundromat time..... 6 loads, Cleaning of the house...... dishes, sorting crap...etc

I'm glad your grandmother is doing better. It is my sincere hope that I feel up to being a pain the butt when I get to be her age.

So what's the "March Challenge" you're talking about? (I did a Search going back a few months and couldn't find a description - sorry if I just missed it.)

The vertigo sounds pretty scary. Was is "just one of those things" or did they find a reason for it?

It sounds like you're doing great activity and food-wise. I'm so glad!

Well, the March Challenge is just my personal goal, and that WAS to workout 2500 minutes + for the whole month. but, as you read... that is not going to happen. So, I still start again in April with a goal of 2,000 minutes.

For the Vertigo.....see my report in for 3/24/08

APRIL 2008
**UFO= Unidentified Food Object (may or may not be IBS friendly for all)

4/20/08
Sorry I've been MIA...AGAIN....

Well, it's been so crazy and I've been out of town also.... I have not been at the gym since 4/13.... so I'm still only at 1056 minutes of my 2,000 goal for April. I have another busy week coming up, but I'm going to try and make it to the gym a few days this week.

Again, I'm not going to even TRY to log all the food. I will have a tiny tiny fill of .10 cc on Wed, 4/23.

We now have mutual expectance (subject to inspection) on a townhouse!! We are soooo excited... it will be nice to get this all done!! Closing is planned for May 29th and moving the weekend of June 13th. We will go from a 1 bed, 1 bath, 620 square feet into a 3 bed, 2 bath, garage just under 1700 square feet!! So, I'll be packing the next few weeks between traveling. We will be out of town the weekends of May 3rd, May 16th, & May 23rd!

4/13/08
Sorry I've been MIA...but man oh man I've been busy!!

As of Friday (4/11), I had worked out 761 minutes of my 2,000 goal for April...and as of today (4/13), I'm at 1056.

I'm not going to even TRY to log all the food, exercise etc for the last 9 days that I missed... I've had some challenges with the band (adjustment/fill/unfill wise) and as of NOW, I can eat WAY MORE then I'm comfortable with...and KNOWING I CAN is the hardest part. I will have a tiny tiny fill of .10 cc on Wed, 4/23 giving me time to heel from being too tight after my last fill 4/7 and unfill 4/8.

Anyway...our spare time has been spent on condo/house/townhouse shopping, I can't believe how much time it can eat up! between work, the gym and that.... we have NO spare time.

I'm still loving my band and learning that just the slightest fill can do amazing things, both good and bad.... so take it slow!!

Be sure to check out my NEWEST pic too.... another full body of me wearing jeans for the first time in YEARS...and feeling pretty darn good in them too!!

As of today, I've worked out 361 minutes of my 2,000 goal for April....

20oz UFO

Breakfast: handful wheat thins, fruit leather thing

Snack: 1/2 oatmeal cookie

Lunch : 10oz chicken tortilla soup, light string UFO

Snack: 1/2 oz cashews, 3 mini Hershey choc

Before the gym: about a 3oz sample of a fruit smoothie from the new Emerald City Smoothie located inside my gym lobby.

Gym: 27 mins stretching then "T.G.I.F" class (kickboxing, included abs, push ups, hand weights and stretching at the end) worked out 1 hour + 57 mins, burned 685 calories at 40% fat.

T.G.I.F. = "Tough Group Into Fitness" and end the week with an incredible workout of kickboxing, sculpting and lots of sweat!

After the gym: 16oz Powerade

Dinner: 2 turkey sausage, 1 frozen waffle, 1/4 worth egg white, I think less then 1 tablespoon 100% pure organic maple syrup (this was a new bottle) delish!

Snack: 100 calorie pack UFO

4/3/08
Breakfast: handful of wheat thins, WAS going to have some turkey jerky...BUT Belmont... my work doggie got into my drawer last night and ATE IT ALL... it was a BIG bag from Costco too!! He also ate the rest of my almond M&M's from Easter, and also a 1/2 bag of Chex mix that I had in there..... oh, he KNEW he was in trouble!! LOL So, I had a 1/2 oatmeal raisin cookie.

Snack: serving of UFO

Lunch : 6oz seafood soup, very very small salad (lettuce, mushrooms, beet, UFO, peas, R/F raspberry vinaigrette)

Snack: mango fruit leather type thing, handful wheat thins

20oz UFO

Shane & I went to see the www.taxbabe.com she was really nice lady....and she is workin her magic now.

Gym: 20 mins walking too and from the taxbabe.... we stopped on the way back to see a few "for sale" signs worked out 20 mins.

Dinner: 1 frozen waffle, 1/2 egg beaters, about a tablespoon 100% maple syrup, and 2 turkey sausage links.

Snack: 100 calorie pack UFO

4/2/08
20oz UFO

Breakfast: handful of wheat thins, .50oz turkey jerky

My Boss & I met with the contractor this morning at the new office.... to take some measurement, etc and then we will send them to our girl who does our floor plans for our other jobs so I can see it all layed out!!

Snack: 1oz turkey jerky, 7 almond M&M's (from Easter)

Lunch : 5oz UFO soup, very very small salad (lettuce, mushrooms, beet, UFO, peas, R/F raspberry vinaigrette)

Then, the boss, his wife & I all met back at the new office(their new house) along with the hardwood floor guy. I had to see what was going to be done and what the expectations are since I will be the one appoving the final payment etc because they will be on vacation when it is being done...gee...nice timing (no pressure on ME or anything...LOL)

Snack: apple fruit leather type thing, handful wheat thins

Shane & I stopped and looked at a house on the way home from work and on the way to the gym.... no thanks...we could tell it would still be a money pit. We will keep looking.... I think we will end up in a condo, but it can't hurt to see what houses are out their in our range.

First, of course, you look great in that picture.

This is amazing, Shell. 2000 minutes of workout for April is over an hour of work-out every single day. I'm super-impressed - and inspired.

When you have time (ROFL) can you explain the fill/unfill thing and what you mean by being able to eat more than you're comfortable with? Or point me to a Website that does? Thanks.

It's really exciting to read about your progress, Shell. I'm glad you're keeping us posted.
