I have lost 22 lbs in 5 weeks, I have been on the IBS diet for two of those weeks trying to get this colon problem stabalized, have not been diagnosed yet, but see my specialist Thursday. How can you not lose weight on the IBS diet? You have to cut out so many of the high caloric and fatting foods. Plus I am diabetic and have to incorporate my diabetes diet guidelines with the IBS , my primary doctor says to stay on it, even if my final diagnosis is not IBS. NanaReth

MIMI - Quite a few years ago when my IBS was scary bad, I followed Heather's diet to a T. And lost 30 lbs. So many people couldn't believe I lost eating french bread. But I did. The sad part is I slacked off the diet & gained it all back. Heather's diet is really the best around for IBS. I'm on a venture to eat right again and lose weight. Not all foods are triggers for all people. So I am actually trying to monitor closely my diet & BM (bathroom visits). Good luck!

I am having some kind of flare tho and this is the first night in a week that I have no gas/spasms or D! I go to my specialist tomorrow, so hopefully he will set me up for scoping and find what is going on! Never lost this much weight this fast ever in my life. Nanareth

So how did the doctors visit go???? Good i hpoe. I'm losing weight as i speak. I never knew you could eat and lose weight to. I have been anerexic all my life so this is a total change for me. I went to my doctor a while back and came out crying he told me i needed to lose weight, i felt so bad he had been on me to try to gain weight. I was down to 95 pounds and it took me 7 years long and slow to try to gain weight. but i gained at least 30 pounds back my doctor did not seem to like that. So i'm on the ibs diet and eating but i'm losing weight. But i feel good and look good to not to skinny and not to big it's great.
Still trying to get some sleep though. my ibs is doing good alot better than it has been. let me know how you are doing.

Hi- Still having problems, saw the specialist, he put me on a drug call LEVBID and anti-sposmatic which is helping but has side effects of dizziness, sleepy, and am still vomitting /D also, will have colonscopy test August 1st. Still losing a lb bout every other day, sticking to the IBS DIET to the T, using the herbal teas also, but still having the symptoms and losing work hours due to vomitting at work, have come to feel IBS IS HADES ON EARTH. I hear ya!! I'm still getting very sick at night my self. I cramp so bad that i can't hardly stand it. I'm still taking dramamine every night. I know exactly how you feel. I tried one of the herbel teas but ended up i was allergic to it. Almost to scared to try any thing else right now. When do you hurt the most. I was up all last night hurting, seems as though it's worse at night. great hearing from you. Hope you can get a handle on it. I know i'm trying.

Hey sorry it took so long to respond. Not been feeling to good. Doing a little better how are you? You are the first person that i have heard that gets sick to your stomach to.
I take dramamine every single night. I'm still having alot of cramping at night. Nobody has had any suggestions yet.
I tried the fennel tea but i ended up being allergic to it.
I'll have to try something else. Hope you are donig good.

something that has really helped me which surprised me is using a heating pad. I have used one almost every night since I had some severe attacks back in May. I had read on here that heat can help prevent those attacks. So now every time I think I may be having an attack come which for me is SEVERE pain and cramping in the middle of the night for hours and hours, I go to sleep with a heating pad and when I wake up a couple hours later I take it off, and I have not had the severe pains since then. This is the longest I have gone without them so far. I still do have both contsipation and diarrhea sine I have IBS A but the pain is gone so far!

I'm still cramping alot my self at night. I've used
a heating pad on me to at night for 7 years its also the
only thing that really helps with the pain. I have been on the ibs diet for just over a month. The diet is great but i do still hurt quiet often it gets really depressing. Hope you get to feeling better at night.
