In honor of my Dad..... my A$$ is back at the gym.... after spending so much time at the hospital and the cafeteria (sp?) for almost a month and only at the gym once a week vs SIX..... I think I gained a good 20 pounds......

I started back full time last Monday the 26th, took off Thur and Fri...... then started back Sat and have been every day this week..... I plan to take Thurs off to go help Mom with a few things that she is too emotional to handle.....

My diet was total crap for a month or so.... but slowly I'm gaining control of myself and my emotional eating.... I still can't talk much about Dad yet.... I will update in the living room when I'm ready...hope that is cool with everyone.... xoxo

I'm doing a fun run this weekend..... well, I'm WALKING it... St. Patty's Day Dash (on Sun 11th)..... I'll post results when I get them..... unless they really suck...and they might... I'm so out of shape.... uuugggggg.....

Hey Shell,

Welcome back to the Boards.. and to the gym, it sounds like!
I know it's difficult, but try not to be too hard on yourself for any weight gain - you just went through something really, really hard and it would be strange if you could just carry on as normal.
My Dad just got out of the hospital after being in the ER for just over a week (no beds elsewhere) after he took a really bad fall, so I can empathize with how hard it is to make good choices when you feel like you never leave - especially when the caffeteria food isn't exactly delicious or nutritious!

Anyway, glad to see you back and if you can see my other post you'll see I am gonna try to be back on the wagon too now that the stress has died down a little.. you're not the only one who needs to get her butt back to the gym, I felt kinda winded just climbing a few flights of stairs yesterday - oy! Looks like all the work I put in before has been flushed away, ooops!

Have fun and good luck at the fun run.. I don't think the time is really that important, just that you're doing it is awesome.

Yum, hospital food. It doesn't seem fair that it's so much faster to put weight on than it is to take it off, does it? Or, as a friend of mine once put it, "This is not fair! How could I weight 5 pounds more after eating just 1 pound of chocolates?!"

Good for you for going back to the gym - I know it's awfully hard to start back up again (says the woman who's trying to convince herself to sign up for that aquacise program). And please do let us know how your St. Patty's Day, um, Stroll goes - not necessarily your time just how you managed it.
