Here's hoping not everyone has quit their New Years resolutions to get fit! LOL, not that resolutions ever work but.. where the heck is everybody?

Update on me: I gained TWO pounds! Finally! It has taken about a month, so I'm hoping by end of summer to reach my goal weight (still 11 pounds away) but at least I can be hopeful now. I'm a bit tired of eating/cooking so much, and eating the same things all the time, but I hope I can keep it up.

I noticed on another thread that Shell has a family emergency.

My update is I have been going to the gym twice a week with my husband for the past few weeks (weeknights). This weekend I went both Sat and Sun too. I'm going to try to continue going on the weekends.

I don't have a specific weight loss goal but am IBS C and exercise really seems to help in that area. And we are going to Hawaii in late spring, and I'd definitely love to be more toned up for that.

Wow that's great! Congratulations...

As you probably know I want to gain weight too, but I am having a very hard time doing it. Right now I am in the middle of tests at the surgery department in the hope that they'll fix my sphincter problem... It's nerve wrecking really as I now have only one more test (as far as I know) and then I'll get the "verdict"...

This is taking so much energy that I find I sleep more than usual and am often so distracted that I simply forget to eat. It has happened far too often lately that I've slept till late and then had breakfast (which is basically a banana, tea and 2 toasts with applesauce) and then if I am good a snack with protein and then dinner... That definitely doesn't help when you want to gain weight. So I'm trying to pull myself together. It's just hard to find the energy to cook all the time.

Really glad to see it's working for you though. Good job!

P S I might turn up on this forum a bit more in the future too as I want to get a more active lifestyle overall. I don't mean lifting tons of weights or taking 2 hour spinning classes just get more energy and try my best to push IBS into the background so to speak...

Wow, that's great. I'm still struggling to gain weight, but hopefully soon I'll be able to My goal is to gain at least 10 pounds by the end of the year, preferrably 15 but I won't push my luck I'm also going to try to exercise more, at least 30 minutes a day, whether it be just doing reps on the ab lounge or walking around the block (or basement lol, its soooo cold outside) or lifting weights, I'm tired of not having enough energy in the day. Haha I'm tired of being tired Congrats again and good luck with the rest

I'm sorry to hear all the trouble you're going through. I hope you get some answers at least.

What I found is that everytime I tried to gain weight I failed because of my IBS getting out of control. I've spent a year now getting stable, and staying that way. And I don't have any other health problems right now. I know my safest foods and so even on a bad day I can eat enough food so that I won't lose weight. So hopefully this'll be it, and I'll be able to keep it on.

I wish you good luck with the tests,

Hawaii, how nice! I'm going to the Dominican Republic in a couple weeks. I hope to eat a lot there, and of course get some sun.

Keep up the gym visits!

I've actually been exercising less, and now I feel like I want to get in shape again but I don't want to risk losing weight. Maybe I'll start with a bit of weight training again. It's so much easier to be active in the summer, darn cold winters.

Yea that's true. I have never been one to excersise much, but now I'm really suffering because of it. I have a problem in my legs where my muscles aren't stretching as they should, and they are holding back my bones, so I'm not growing as fast as I should. I should be at least another inch or so tall, but I stopped growing three years ago. Well, my legs did at least, my arms are still growing, because a long sleeve shirt that was too big on me last winter is an inch too small now. But anyway, my point with this was, now whenever it is cold, or just even if I am really active one day, my legs start to hurt so much that I can't even walk across a room; if I'm in the family room I can't walk to the kitchen without collapsing from the pain. If I had excersised more this wouldn't have happened. So, now that my IBS is pretty stable (although now I'm afraid I've destabilized, I'll post about that later though), I think I can start to excersise again. But you're right, winter is a terrible time to try and be active, way too cold. I'm just going to buy some cheap excercise equip to put in the basement and then be really active all summer.
