I get painful cramping, bloat and feel flushed and faint with pain when I get these cramps. I get hard stools that cause me to bleed followed by diaherreah. I'm having gas pains now which feel like gas filling my lower tummy (near my hipbones) and up to my ribs towards my back so if i squeezed my sides thats where i feel the gas... all along there.

I stopped taking laxatives over a year ago when I had a severe eating disorder and came out of hospital and was taking them everyday for about 5months and am now concerned that it is possibly IBS, could it have been caused or aggravated by the laxatives??
I feel as though I can't take anything for the constipation because I'm scared of going back to my old ways but my psychiatrist suggested something that could softn my stools, but surely after a while (like with laxatives) You'd have to take stronger doeses if your body becomes tolerent *sigh* eh

i would definately get it comfirmed with a doctor but i had a laxative abuse problem that continued everyday for 6 months..just like you. my problem was to elimnate the constipation from the ibs-c i already had. im sure for you there were other causing factors to your ibs but laxative abuse leads to awful constipation along with bloating and all the other symptoms you desribed--its b/c your colon became dependant on them for waste-passing. im sorry you sound in pain i hope you feel better soon and see a doctor about this as soon as possible! good luck
