...ok, I am new to this forum and just want to get a general consesus to confirm that my symptoms are associated with IBS....I have had the symptoms for over 4 years now, but have never seen a doctor about them....I have painful "stomach attacks" 3-5 times a week depending on 'how I eat'....although I have changed my diet dramatically over the years...my symptoms were much worse back when I use to eat double-cheese pizzas, fried chicken, smoke cigarettes and wash it down with a glass of milk....the pain that I have can be pin-pointed to my large intestines...and this pain is always followed by diarrhea....my family thinks that it is "all in my head"...and that really frustrates me.........so, tell me, do I have IBS??

you must go to a GI doctor to get tested. Heather lists a bunch of diagnosis that must be ruled out before an IBS diagnosis can be made by a doctor. I suggest you read through the entire website to find out more about IBS. Here's a link to get you started IBS diagnosis
Really, read through all the info on the site that Heather has provided. Good luck.
