Hey Guys,
I've been having really bad attacks lately, so I feel like I need to start posting again.
*toaster waffles with whipped vegan butter and raspberries
*avocado sandwich on flax bread, carrot sticks, pita chips, and hummus
*luna bar, decaf coffee with soy milk
*baked sweet potato, cup of split pea soup, and a small salad, with blackberry sorbet for dessert
I don't know how I manage to eat so much when I'm in so much pain...

I am worried about, but the other stuff.. 1) I think my calories are def too low 2) No HEALTHY food 3) Packaged food.
When I am exercising, and trying to eat healthy I don't really beat myself up about chocolate 'cause I know that is my big weakness but I can't do the other stuff AND have the chocolate.
Oh well! I appreciate the encouragement very much, I am doing better so far today.. despite being real sore from the dentist, argh!
Cheers, --Steph

Perhaps, Julia, you might consider modifying your diet if you are having "really bad attacks lately" ?
Personally, I don't see a quantity problem. In fact all the foods you listed are quite healthy, although some sound like major attack triggers (i.e. flax bread, the high IF content of the berries, the fat content of avocado & vegan butter, hummus, split pea soup). If you're not feeling stable, your body might enjoy at the very least a modified BTC diet.

Hey, chocolate (the real stuff!) is highly anti-oxidant, Stephie! However, if I were to indulge, I'd definitely hold out for the good stuff versus a chocolate bar as a quick energy fix.
Maybe a little planning re: lunch to keep your energy steady/stable?

Hey Kate,
First of all, I really appreciate the way you respond to everyone's posts...you are always so helpful, yet so gentle and sweet!
I know I really should be cutting out some of the higher fat and IF foods from my diet right now, but I am having a lot of difficulty regaining weight that I lost during my struggle with an eating disorder, and my nutritionist has cautioned me to stay away from the BTC diet, even in the short term...however, I'm sure there are some slight alterations I could make in my diet that may make a difference. For example, the berries definitely have to go--even though they're nutritious, they give me a lot of pain, and they're not very high in calories. Avocados have never given me problems (my triggers tend to be more of the IF foods like apples, broccoli, whole wheat, etc.) but I think I'm going to have to switch the bread for that sandwich, and see if it makes a difference.
Again, thanks so much for taking the time to reply to my post and offer your suggestions...I read your posts all the time, and I really appreciate your presence on this board!

Maybe you could work the berries into a smoothie? Add a banana or some rice milk? Compliment them with some angelfood cake? I know--it's hard to find calories & meet at least your basal metabolic weight with stuff that doesn't make you sick.
Maybe more SF sources during the day and veggies that sound a little more safely prepared might ease the attacks? Less avocado and more SF with the avocado? (Use it as a sweet potato or potato topper? A divine sandwich spread?)
The only way I was able to gain weight from my ED was via tube feeding. You do eat very healthfully & I admire the colour & nutrients within your menus! Perhaps some sort of beverage/safe liquid supplementation might ease/assist your weight gain program?
