hey arafel - i don't know if this will help you, but it helped me a lot. i find that this whole thing is easier on my psyche if i don't think of it as being in control or out of control, but if i just see it in terms of choices - when we make choices that aren't as healthy, it's not because we're bad or weak, but because, for whatever reason, we chose to do that. i think it's easier, then, to get back on track - you haven't failed or broken or anything, just made choices that you'll work not to make again.

sorry to butt in - just wanted to put this out there.

Corn Pops (vile things, nearly made me vomit. i confiscated them. probably the sugar, but i noticed oat flour on the ingredient list and anything that hints at oats makes me gag.
terrible texture. went for a walk and then slept off the icky/sticky feeling. now, i know better. they are gone!!!)

pureed roasted (& peeled) eggplant with parsley
purple potatoe with chevril
cremini mushroom crumble

2 "Guiltless Gourmet" tortilla chips (that was enough to know that they would have given me the worst acid/heartburn/reflux. they are gone. out, out, with the vile Corn Pops, to be collected tomorrow a.m.)

spinach/asparagus puree
purple potatoe
leftover cremini mushroom crumbles/gravy (ate 8c. total today--measurement prior to cooking!)

Note: Cold food makes a HUGE difference. Following the 2-3 bite rule makes a difference, too. I know I ate less than 900 calories, but I just get so full. Going to stock up on Immodium, tomorrow. Maybe my stools will acquire form. No more renegade approach.

Kate.

although i didn't *feel* the craving, looking at my eats, i seem to have been hankering for fats. (a whole avocado??) i think, after the extended laxness of thanksgiving weekend, it's taking me a little time to readjust to not just eating whatever i see/want/think of. but still under 2000 calories, which is already under what i use, so it's a day on the ride side of plus/minus.

3 ff devil's food cookies
luna bar
(i'm realizing that, as my way of being hungry's changing - for example, rather than getting hungry with a growling stomach, i notice that i'm lightheaded if i don't eat for three hours or so. i never used to experience hunger that way - so as that's changing, i don't do well waiting till i get to work to eat breakfast. the cookies were easy to grab, and one quickly became three, at which point i said, 'okay, let me get something real in me,' hence, the luna bar.)

small fake turkey sandwich on white spelt, w/ reduced fat mayo
large gala apple (with peel!)

scooped-out bagel
avocado
m&m minis (these were poor planning - it occured to me that these come in a case that could be the perfect size for a fiberchoice travel case. so i bought them, intending to take them home for a roommate to eat the candy. but i should have bought them at the end of the day, on my way home - rather than around 3, with an afternoon looming. and then i ate them. alas.)

kashi oatmeal w/ ff soy milk

several large red grapes

cornbread tofu stuffing
chocolate soy delicious w/ 1T(ish) reduced fat pb

meh. an okay day.

I'm not sure if it's the sugar, or the oats, but I felt like I had eaten cheetos or something and nearly "bleched." I had to confiscate them and walk off that ick feeling and then just take a nap to get the sticky feeling out of my brain.

I suspect that plain Corn Flakes would have been fine. Those Corn Pops just gave me that Cheetos nastiness effect.

Kate.

I haven't tried plain corn flakes. I tried Frosted Flakes and that did not work out very well at all!!! I got soooo sick that day......they're gone!! hehehehehe.....
Yep, out with the trash!! Along with some CHEAP animal crackers I bought yesterday. CHEAP!!! Nasty, and caused instant attack, I think.....

Yum! I always thought that quinoa would be divine accompanied by swiss chard with maybe some matchstick carrots added to the quinoa. Great idea!

Have you tried gf waffles? There's a variety with amaranth, quinoa, and another grain, but I cannot think of it at the moment. I used to love this Ancient Grain gf cereal, too.

Great ideas.
Kate.

i was pms'ing and i didn't even know it.

sigh... normally i don't mind these couple of 'off' days, so much happier not fighting the cravings, and just going with them for two days, since i know it's not permanent. but on the heels of thanksgiving, which itself was on the heels of a big day-off... this is just lame. grrr.

can I just say, that I've been really, really (really!) admiring the attitudes you've been taking towards food lately. Believe me, I could use some of that lately... stress, time, emotional stuff - my relationship with food has definitely gone down hill lately. But I've been taking a lot of inspiration from what you've been writing in your posts, so I just wanted to say thanks (I may start posting again, to try to work through some of these issues, soon but not right away... after all these essays and exams!)

Yeah, and I love that pic of you! You and your kitty are both positively adorable

thank you, laurel! it makes me feel good to know that even when you're not posting, you're reading. i like knowing you're out there. and i really appreciate it. (i seriously cribbed a lot of it from that book i was reading a while ago - picture perfect weight loss. even if some of the dietary stuff isn't applicable to ibs, the attitudes he writes about are great.) i've still got a long way to go to really integrate these ways of thinking, to get them to be second nature, but i do think it's helping. so thanks.

Jaime!

I too love your new userpic!! (You do not look to me like you need to lose an ounce of weight...)

May I ask what the book you're reading is called?

Enjoy your kitty...she/he is beautiful! :-)

Love,

Ruch

thanks, ruchie! i've actually got a thin face, comparatively. (and when i start to lose weight it always starts in my cheekbones. why it couldn't start in my thighs i'll never know.)

the book is 'picture perfect weight loss,' author's last name is shapiro. i like it very much.

and thank you (and laurel) for the kitten-compliments. i'm completely in love with her.
