What do people mean when you say you are "stable"? Is it the same as regular and comfortable? I am a new IBS sufferer and have stabilized I think on 2.5 teaspoons of acacia drink spread out throughout the day before meals. I seem to have finally become regular with a normal BM in the AM. I still watch what I eat but can cheat now and then altho' there doesn't seem to be rhyme or reason as to why or when becasue sometimes food like oatmeal (but not often) can cause the gurgles and fat can be ok. My big problem foods are high fat meat which will cause almost immediate d and cheese such as zucchini parmesan which causes major stomach gurgling but no discomfort. I drink soy and no longer drink any milk. I can eat German chocolate cake...go figure!?
So basically I am learning what I can and can't eat but of course that is always subject to change it seems which is what makes this IBS so frustrating. I was equally c and d IBS...hoping to stay regular.

It varies from person to person, but for me, "stable" is not having attacks, not swinging from D to C and being able to get on with life without IBS being an issue. An added bonus for me has been that I get less effects from cheating and even if I do have a bad day, I recover far more quickly than I used to.

Btw, 2.5 tsp Acacia is NOT a significant dose of SFS...it's only about 6g of SF. You might find you do even better if you increase that! Fyi, I take 2 TABLEspoons a day.
