Hi guys,

Just wondering how to calculate the number of calories in a soup that I made that I have been eating every day.
This is the recipe I used, I got it from the French Women book, but had to change it for my tummy and what I had in the kitchen...

3 potatoes, peeled and cubed
3 carrots, peeled and sliced
1 leek, sliced fine
2 small onions, quartered
1 large can of diced tomatoes
1 small bunch of parsley, chopped
2 tsp of thyme
2 tsp pepper (I used some ground peppercorns to give it some kick)
Pinch of chipotle flakes

I boiled up the veggies, added the canned tomatoes, cooked for 1.5 hours. Then drained off the liquid and pureed it in the food processor and added some liquid back in until it was a nice consistency.

I have made it to serve 8, but I don't know how to calculate the calories. Thanks all!!
Cheers,
--Steph

I input the whole recipe into fitday as a custom food. Then, say the whole recipes serves 4, I'd add the food for the day and say I had 0.25 servings. Hope that makes sense! (Sounds yummy btw!)

Hiya,
Sorry, I am confused. I don't use fitday very often, so I am not sure what I am doing.
I went to Custom Food, and all it says is the name and the serving size and then has you input the nutritional information... but it's the nutritional information that I want to know...
What am I doing wrong?? Sorry if this is a stupid question.

Thanks!!

i'd enter each recipie item as a food item for the day. for example, search 'potatoes,' select the right one (probably 'from fresh, boiled' or something like that), and add it to your foods eaten. then total up the calories and other numbers, and divide by the number of servings. then enter *those* single-serving numbers as a custom food. (then, if you plan on using fitday for what you're actually eating, delete the soup ingredients from your list.)

my custom food list on fitday is very silly. i made one for the batch of rice pudding from last night - it's 'rice pudding 9/12' or something. i also put various sandwiches up there so i don't have to go ingredient by ingredient.

Thanks for doing a much better job of explaining than I did Jaime!
