Hey Guys!

I find that music totally motivates me through a tough workout. So I thought I'd solicit your top motivational songs. What gets you moving? It doesn't matter to me how cheesy, just that it has a good beat! I'll offer up some suggestions (and embarrass myself first):

Rumors by Lindsay Lohan
Lose Yourself by Eminem
Mr. Brightside by the Killers
Stronger by Britney Spears
One Girl Revolution by Superchick

Add to my iPod!!

I probably listen to "funny" workout songs...they don't all have a super upbeat beat but they work for me:

Evanescence - Bring Me to Life
Robbie Williams - Rock DJ
Switchfoot - Dare You to Move
Go Gos - We Got the Beat
Jamiroquai - Just Dance
Red Hot Chilli Peppers - Higher Ground

It's pretty eclectic, but they work for me

I like Rock DJ too... but it's not quite upbeat enough for me for the tough workouts. Thanks for the suggestions though!!

A selection of my playlist for my weights workouts...

I Love Myself Today AND We're Not Gonna Take It, Bif Naked (both of these are sooooo motivating )
You Spin Me Right Round, Marilyn Manson (and any of this other covers, like Tainted Love is good too)
Somebody Told Me, The Killers
Blue Monday, Orgy
Down with Sickness, Disturbed
Often older metal stuff makes its way on to my playlist too, like Metallica

And for my cardio workouts, I usually like something a bit more, uh, upbeat Some of my iPod favourites...

Disconnected Child, Tin Star (great to run to)
I Wanna Be Sedated, The Ramones
Almost anything by Pink, but esp. Trouble, God is a DJ, Get this Party Started etc.
Sinnerman, Nina Simone (or any of the house remixes of it)
Turn off the Light, Nelly Furtado
Will You Be My Girl, Jet (and most everything by them)
Bring Me To Life, Evanescence
Take Me To the River, Annie Lennox
I'm Every Woman, Chaka Khan (lol!)
Almost anything by Madonna
Give up the Grudge, Gob
I'll Stop the World and Melt with You, The Cure
I Would Walk 500 Miles, The Pretenders
My Sharona, The Knack

...OK I'm done lol

laurel, rockin taste in music.

i row to sleater kinney (it makes me feel so bad-ass) or great big sea (get it? rowing, and sea shanties? i crack myself up).

for cardio i like anything uptempo, but especially cds that hold my interest and make time pass quickly. i'm outing myself as a dork, but one of the best things for this is soundtracks to musicals. 25th annual putnam county spelling bee, little shop of horrors, dirty rotten scoundrels, urinetown. i'm also a sucker for the little personal tv screens they have at the gym. but that's off-topic and not music. but they're a brilliant invention.

My favorite workout song is Busy Child by the Crystal Method. And I like to workout to Rage Against the Machine. I like to dance around to salsa music a lot. And I will add a Killers' song too All These Things That I've Done.

Red Hot Chilli Peppers - Higher Ground
Those are on my list too Kelly!

So...since becoming religious I mostly listen to religious music. I gave all my CD's away! But if I had em...I'd listen to...(sorry I'm not good with the artists...just names of songs )

I Will Survive
Should I Stay or Should I Go

Gosh, can't think of any others...if I do I'll come back

GREAT topic...maybe I'll have to get an ipod for exercising

A little glam, a little punk, a pinch of funk--I don't know if you'll like it, but the following really gets me motivated:

Prince "Dirty Mind" (1980--so embarrassing, but I love it!) or "Controversy"

Joan Jett "Bad Reputation"

Pixies "Alec Eiffel"

Queen "Misfire"

Gwen Stefani "Bubble Pop Electric"

Yeah Yeah Yeahs "Tick"

Oooh lots of good stuff Maria! Pixies is another workout favourite for me. Never thought of sweating to Joan Jett - definitely going to add some to my list now though!

Hi guys!
I like to work out to fast music that I can breathlessly sing along to, but don't have to think about too much, hee hee.
I like some 'old school' silly songs like Salt n' Peppa "Shoop" and "What a Man"... I've known all the words since I was like 12, and think they're funny.
I won a free CD once that was R&B remixes and it was actually really good to work out to.. My favourites from those CDs and then some others are as follows:
-Usher, "Pop ya collar"
-Destiny's Child, "Bootiliscious" (sp)
-Sir Mix Alot, "Baby Got Back"
-MC Hammer, "Can't Touch This"
-Justin Timberlake, "Senorita"
-Pink, "There you go"
-Ciara, "1,2 Step"
-Beyonce and Jay-Z, "Girlfriend"
-Carlos Santana ft. Rob Thomas, "Smooth"
-Mariah Carey, "It's Like That"
-The Killers, "Mr. Blind Side" (right??)
-Letters to Cleo, "I want you to want me"
-Maroon Five, "Harder to Breathe"

Oh my god, I need to stop now as I could list about a million more.. those are just the more recent ones I remember from some CDs.
Not music I'd sit and "chill" to every day, but good to bounce along too!
