Calories? Who knows and who cares! I'm satisfied and that's what counts. I let hunger and thirst guide me.

That is my goal! It may take awhile to undo 20 years of "food issues"(for lack of a better term). Thanks for posting your thought!

I have OCD/GAD. When I take my OCD/GAD pills regularily, I seriously have that "Rhett Butler" "Frankly my dear, I don't give a damn attitude" re: numbers. I tossed the scale--only my doctor weighs me every few months. I go by my jeans. I just write down what I eat because I'm in the logging/charting habit and for IBS reasons. I had my meds. up'ed a little and it has really made a huge difference.

I just know, intuitively/innately that I can't/won't get fat. I trust myself completely to give myself exactly what I need. I think my biggest concern is making sure I get enough calories to meet my basal needs. Fear/anxiety really interferes with the appetite/hunger factor. So does eating alone. It really numbs/dulls/steals the appetite, more and more so lately. I have a rule, though...if my weight drops below a hundred pounds, then I institute a calorie counting program.

Thanks. I feel gross/icky if I don't drink about 12. Water is the first thing I reach for in the a.m.

Once again, thanks for clarifying the H2O numbers: 1/2 ounce per pound of body weight, minimum.

IBS-A for 20 years with terrible bloating and gas. On the diet since April 2004. Remember this from Heather's information pages:
"You absolutely must eat insoluble fiber foods, and as much as safely possible, but within the IBS dietary guidelines. Treat insoluble fiber foods with suitable caution, and you'll be able to enjoy a wide variety of them, in very healthy quantities, without problem." Please eat IF foods!

What if you're drinking more than you should for your body weight? Will that encourage water retention? I was talking to my bf the other day and he thinks a lot of my problem might be water retention because of how swollen my ankles/calves look (I should post a pick and get an opinion...swollen vs. chunky). He was saying I should try a diuretic or the cabbage soup diet (yuck) to see if it's water retention.

Anyways, I drink a TON of water because it's the only beverage I drink and I constantly seem thirsty. I don't know how much I drink in a day. I go through about 5 18L bottles of water a month and that's just me...but I don't know what that works out to for a day

Thanks,
Kelly

That brings back so many sad memories. I was like that at college. I was never comfortable eating alone anywhere on campus, I felt horrible because most people ate with their friends and I really didn't have that many. I'll never forget the night I cried in my room eating a hoagie(I binge)because I was sitting alone. That was almost 10 years ago, the good news is it really doesn't bother me any more either at home or at a restaurant. When I am out and about I see so many people eating by themselves, that helped. And when I am at home I have the tv on...which might not be a good thing but at least I hear voices.
I just wanted to respond and let you know that someone else knows what it is like and thanking you for your posts.

what kind of applesauce do you eat? Do you use the individual cups of Mott's that are totable?

Do you eat the fruit flavored ones, like strawberry? Is it okay to eat these as a snack even though they contain pureed peaches or strawberries in them?

I think maybe I'll just stick with my big jar of just plain apples and water...but if I don't eat it everyday...it ends up spoiling!

I have found this brand to have the best taste and texture, but I have also eaten Mott's & Safeway store brands...I just prefer the Seneca.

Do you eat the fruit flavored ones, like strawberry? Is it okay to eat these as a snack even though they contain pureed peaches or strawberries in them? The fruit ones are great too...I just don't eat them because I'm watching my calories and those tend to have just a little bit more...(and sugar added), but they should be just fine for you.

You could also make your own, I know there is a recipe in EFI.
