What is your favorite IBS friendly exercise?

I was wondering what everyone likes to do for exercise that is IBS-friendly?

Since January I have been enjoying belly-dancing. It is loads of fun and just happens to be a great workout as well. But I am always looking for other ways to stay fit and have fun at the same time...

I look forward to hearing your suggestions!

I'm pretty bad at anything that requires coordination - I've tried bellydancing and I'm absolutely horrible at it, haha. These days, with the weather finally getting nice up here in Maine, I mostly walk - at least an hour, nice brisk pace. This weekend we're going to fix my bike, and then I'm going to add a daily bike ride into my routine as well.

I do yoga on rainy days. I should do it more often than that, but it gets so darn hot in my living room that I can't bear to move down there, so I have to leave that for the cooler days.

Thanks for the ideas. Personally, I have no rythum but still really enjoy bellydancing! I have a video for yoga - I should try it sometime!

For me anyway, I don't really think there are any types of exercise that are NOT IBS-friendly....? What specifically did you have in mind that wouldn't be?

I know that exercise and staying active are a really big part of staying stable for me, so it becomes kind of a necessarily priority. Besides being active (parking at the back of the lot, taking the stairs etc.) I workout with weights for about an hour 3x a week and jog or bike for usually around 30-45 mins 3x a week. Oh, and YOGA - as much as I can. Plus in the summers I usually go for hikes on weekends.

I guess some people find that really vigorous exercise can be problematic with D (I am IBS-D but i don't find that's the case for me at all, unless I'm in the middle of an attack or something! ), though I think that those with IBS-C really need the more vigorous exercise to 'get things moving'.

Anyway, just my 2 cents!
