Startin' to feel GOOD about myself again....

for the first time in a long time. Maybe even a little bit foxy. Might even wear something slinky to bed tonight. I'm down 14 pounds. Only 5 more pounds to what I was last spring. 5 more pounds after that to last summer. I just feel like a huge weight (pun intended) has been lifted off my shoulders. I've got a spring in my step even though I feel awful (thanks to my IBS). I even treated myself to a new pair of earrings.
Thanks to all of you for the support. I don't know what I would have done without you all. Isn't it great we can all be here for each other? I feel so fortunate. You guys are awesome! Hugs, Alicia.

kudos! kudos! kudos! might i ask what your secret is? hehe--i would LOVE to feel good again. i notice that my weight isnt an issue when my IBS[C] is under control--but when its thru the roof, and im like---11teen months pregnant-looking, its hard to feel anything but down  im organizing myself a new workout/diet routine before the summer thats *guarenteed* to kick my BUTT! but im lost about meals---what have you been preparing as far as dinners? what have you been snacking on?? well, congrats again  your earrings sound lovely!! i oh-so enjoy seeing your new posts about your new 2-pounds-lost! keep it up hun!!

Thanks, sweetheart. I really keep my portions VERY small and eat several times throughout the day. As for summer eating - BBQ - baby! Grilled chicken, grilled veggies, are my favourite, lots of smoothies - with whatever fresh fruit is in season. I also eat lots of rice. Lots and lots of rice. It's my staple.

Navy blue satin. V neck sleeveless top - with beading at the waistline and a sheath full length skirt. It's a two piece. Simple but elegant. I actually like it even though it cost a mint and a half! Hope I can wear it again eventually! I'd give you the link if I could figure it out!

Sound lovely. Over here I buy the dresses, I think its so unfair in the US. One friend of mine was a bridesmaid for a US wedding and she had to pay for the shower that she couldn't attend, buy her dress which she never saw til the day before the wedding, buy a wedding gift and pay for flights, and lose holidays for going over.
Here, bride pays for dresses, usually shoes, and hair and makeup. I am getting the girls' jewellery too.
My friend had v similar BM dresses to the one you describe, the BMs wore sandals that were very bling with diamante across the front and bouquets of red roses, they looked amazing.
If you know the style and brand of the dress I will find it, I am a bridal website expert!

Yes, it's Alfred Angelo. It's under the "separates" part of the bridesmaid part. Mine is the full length sheath skirt and the sleevelss v-neck top with beading at the waist hem (but I already told you that) in navy blue. It's going to cost me well over $300. by the time I get it shortened and altered. That doesn't include shoes or hair or makeup. My bridesmaid's dresses cost $30 (we made them). Sigh.

My wedding dress cost $30 (wore my mom's with a little alteration), my bridesmaid dresses were made (my sisters are 4'10" and 5'2" respectively) and they cost close to $300! Expensive material and we had someone else sew the dresses. I swear, when one of my sisters gets married I better have best bridesmaid dress ever!

Score! on the wedding dress. I could have worn my mother's. It only would have had to have been shortened and cleaned. I had my wedding dress made. I'm 5' 2" and weighed 100 lbs at the time. Looked ridiculous in the puffy beaded lacey garbs. Went with a simple sheath with a row of lace at the neckline.

My wedding dress cost many multiples of $30!! The girls' dresses are only costing $120 which I think is pretty good )and half what they were for sale for in the shops which is even better!)

Thanks. I guess we were fairly young, I was 22 and he was 23, but we both get carded all of the time anyway. And thanks about the hair. I found a picture in a magazine that I wanted recreated- in the magazine they used a fake piece of hair for the braid with the pearls. However, I have so much hair they could do it with my real hair!! I have a little bit less now, but it grows really fast!

Yeah, the location was perfect. It was the historic home of George Rogers Clark (of Lewis and Clark fame) and as well as being very inexpensive, was absolutely gorgeous. The weather was great that day too!
As for the dress, well, my mom wanted me to wear it and I did. I'm not super fond of it, and I would like to have picked my own. But, Eric promises some day we'll renew our vows and I can buy whatever dress I want!

Details: got married in March 2005, in Joliet, IL (Southwest of Chicago) at the church my parents were married at, which was a block from the house we had lived at for the past 11 years. It was cool to walk down the street to the ceremony with my wedding party!
Reception Downtown Joliet, awesome place, great time, we spent the night at the Harrah's Casino across the street, which was nice because we didn't have to drive anywhere, and the only bad thing was I forgot extra shoes so I walked out the next morning in jeans, a t-shirt, and some lovely satin pumps! LOL!
Honeymoon, (sigh)---three weeks long, beginning in Barcelona, onto Nice, Venice, Rome, Santorini, and Athens. I believe I gained 5-7 lbs on the trip, which was acutally visible in photographs from Athens. Oh, the food....I loved Europe and I can't wait to get back one day. And at the time the Euro and dollar were about 1:1 which was great!!!
Have no clue if I'm doing this right but here goes:
The first one is me waiting to walk in with my cousin and maid of honor.
The next one is me and my husband coming out of the church after the ceremony. (Yes, he's 27 and now almost bald!!)
The next is me dancing with my dad, you can see the back of my dress....(p.s. my dress had straps I could put in at the reception, which worked out GREAT!)
And this last one is on our honeymoon in front of the Trevi Fountain...(he is holding a rose that we were badgered into buying for some ridiculous sum!!!)

Anyway, couldn't help to notice your comment about your adorable hubby being 27 and almost bald. My hubby was almost bald at our wedding too and he started going bald around 18 or so. Is your hubby self conscious of it? Mine wears a hat 24/7 except in work. He HATES it. I'd never trade him for the world I tell him that I don't care how much hair he has, he's the best. He's almos completely bald now and being 39 it's tough for him. He loves the summer months when he can tan his head and just shave the "ring" around his head off completely.
Mind sharing how your hubby deals????

He started losing his hair when he was...hmm...23 for real I guess. It hit a plateau for a while and just recently sped up quite a bit!! I don't think he's that self-concious, he NEVER wears hats unless he's out in the sun for long periods. I think it helps that I tell him all the time that I think he looks better now than back in college when he had hair---which it the total truth. He's much more manly now and has a good face that does not require hair! I think he was mentally prepared because his dad went bald (and gray!) early too.
Right now, he cuts it really really short (I have to help him) and it looks fine that way. I feel bad that your hubby has to wear hats....when are men going to get it---we don't CARE about the baldness!!! I'd prefer bald over long and shaggy any day. have you seen how some high school boys are wearing their hair now?? ICK!!!
Oh and yeah, my husband's pretty pale..and doesn't really tan at all, and I just don't care.
The funny thing is, as the hair on his head started departing, the hair everywhere else started growing like crazy!! I could follow him around with a dustbuster all day vacuuming up the hair that comes off his gorilla arms and legs!!!

LOL isn't that the truth. He says all the time why can my hair grow everywhere else but on my head!!!! He has sort of a manly face but not manly enough to him I guess. He thinks men that are "huge and built" look fine bald. He's only 5'6 with a "6 pack ab", however, no one hardly sees that! I enjoy it though he he! 
Anyway,he does have a mustache which he threatens to shave off all the time. I tell him he needs to keep it since he's bald. Takes away from the balding I think! Wanna know how pathetic it is in our house? My boys who are 10 & 7 come home with pictures they draw at school of their family and daddy has a hat on in EVERY picture. It's so awful!!!
Yes, the boys as young as 10 are refusing to get haircuts these days! They look like they belong with the "Beatle's"
My 10 year old tried it with me. I said oh no! You are getting your hair cut!

My ring is very similar! It's also a sapphire with three little diamonds on each side that form a triangle. We also had it made- we picked a diamond setting from one store and went and picked out a sapphire from the other. That was an interesting experience, I'd never picked out a gem before!

aside from the the bbq [vegan] the rest sounds great!! ive been loving the fresh fruit--i was about to *DIE* on apples [needs variety]but one things puzzling me....as i eat rice alot too--brown rice. almost every-other day for about 2 weeks now ive been eating rice thinking it was a "thinner food" to eat and ive actually noticed places on my body that seem bigger--like from fat. and the only thing i can attribute that to is the rice b/c i know its high in carbs! i cook mine in water first, to get real soft and creamy and then i drain all but a little bit of the water and mix in Imagine's No Chicken Broth and usually add some veggies  [?] im at a loss--ive also been working extra-long so i would think id be in shape [since i lift boxes and trays and stuff] but its as if im not! im fearing swimsuit weather!

I's not likely the rice. It's probably water retention. Not much you can do about that in this weather. Rice and carbs will NOT make you fat. That is a total myth. Fats will make you fat. And it's a matter of calories in and out.

Weight loss/maintenance/gain is a simple equation of calories in versus calories out. And Brown rice is, in fact, a really health grain and unlikely to put weight on you. Further, it has lots of fiber to help regulate your BM's and keep you full longer. I know it can be scary to venture and try new foods in your diet, but you will not gain weight unless what you take in exceeds output. In fact, I recently read an excellent book about sports nutrition/feeding your body. In the book, the author (a renowned RD who trains professional athletes) spoke of the importance of carbs, esp for active individuals. Brown rice is an excellent source of nutrients, vitamins, and energy for your body!

The honeymoon sounds amazing too, thanks sooo much for posting. Santorini is one of my favourite places on earth, so peaceful, I spent a wonderful afternoon with my husband to be in a restaurant overlooking the sea in Ia on the north of the island a few years ago.

That's soo funny, they had the same dress! my parents got married in 1975 so it was platforms and bellbottoms all around, the Bridesmaids dress was white longsleeved with blue flowers (like curtains) and she wore a blue plastic hat with a white plastic flower on it (my Mam bought this for her at the last minute cos she refused to do anything with her hair)
Today is my parents' 30th wedding anniversary. they are not speaking so no celebrations there! Oh well.

Santorini was pretty wonderful....it actually rained the whole time we were there, so we cut the trip short, but met lots of nice people...and a surprisingly large number of tame, friendly wild dogs. They would walk us into town and back every night!
I hardly consider us newlyweds anymore (2.5 years) but being married is great and just gets better all the time....today we did a team duathlon and I was so proud of us and I love doing stuff as a "team". He's my best friend so life is good. We have a lot of fun.
Oh, and my bouquet was roses and hydrangeas....I LOVED it, it didn't wilt, the colors were gorgeous (soft pink and blues, to match the flowers on my dress) and not very expensive!

Ha! My pics weren't digital either! Just some I scanned in over the last couple of years. And most of my best pics came from my friends/relatives cameras. The ones from the photographer, while nice, really show the progression of tiredness as the night wore on...and geez...I didn't even look like I had makeup on at the end! Oh well.
Anyway, thanks for the compliments!!
And yes, he's a cutie, bald or not!
