--1 c. puffed rice
--1.5 c. rice (in divided doses)
--wild mushrooms
--zucchini/spinach puree
--aparagus/sweet basil puree

Still could use some more calories to get to 1000. Rice crackers/rice cakes or applesauce or something, later. Tons of bottled water, pots of fennel/rooibos and green jasmine tea.

MY BODY IS SO VERY VERY HAPPY WITHOUT SALAD AND RAW LETTUCE.
I AM SO HAPPY WITHOUT IT, TOO. FREEDOM FROM SALAD FOREVER.

Hey, Shannon! Is "4" the magick number today? Just kidding!
You're on the right track, by tracking! Incidentally, I recall that your husband was initially hyper-resistant to you making dietary changes. How's he reacting/supporting you and your changes? I hope this isn't too nosey of a question. Just curious to see if he's shifted his perspective.

Thanks, Kate/Wind for making me laugh. But really wouldn't this make an awesome t-shirt? The statement works on so many levels: From IBSers to "old school" fad dieters to domesticated/litter-trained rabbits. Hmmm...

B: MOM with brown sugar 280 and 3 g
snacks: 2 ripe bananas 180, luna 180 and 4.5g, carrots 30 lunch: homemade defrosted soup 225 1g, puff pastry twist 60 and 2g
dinner: thigh bites, rice and broccoli 375 and 8g
Total: 1330 and 18.5 and 12%.
I am fighting off D tonight but I think it will arrive eventually. I hate when you don't know what caused it! maybe many days of overripe bananas, maybe too much fat in the thigh bites (doubt it- felt poopy earlier), maybe exercised too soon after eating, maybe 3 days of humidity.
Exercise: worked 3 1/2 hours and did weights and new ball exercises. Worked out 1 hour.
gurgles every few minutes.
Update: never did get D! somehow. So there is no C today which is great.

I agree--it would make a great t-shirt. "I tossed my salad days!" It's just cruelty to my animal self. Re: salads and weightloss. Most salads are typically fattening, or high calorie anyways. Mine were not--they were just plain greens/lettuce with sea salt and lemon or something of that nature. I had a "nervous" habit of eating lettuce. Now, looking at those "salads" makes me nervous! I just ate it because I thought it was supposedly proper and it was a daily ritual/requisite thing. I just can't handle it. It's an energy zapper. Note though, and this is an embarrassing confession, in my anorectic youth I used to hide/hoard heads of lettuce and salad in my closet--yes, in my closet, seriously, no joke--and nibble on just plain lettuce, like a rabbit, and have a belly bloated with "water." I've given it up forever and ever and ever--it makes me RUN like the Wind. In fact, anything raw scares me. Thus, in an act of self-love and kindness I've tossed the salad.

DH was really whiny about these changes, but honestly, he NAGS the crap out of me every day now to eat RIGHT! It's great!it's hard going from 7 years of eating like this-garbage, eating out, living a restaurant life.. to eating healthy, learning to cook and eating often. Dh was resistant to cooking cheese, milk and fat free when I first got IBS...and we have to be careful about spices for me GERD too.....so it is frustrating, considering he's the red seal chef, and dairy addict in the house.

but things are much better. We stopped at his restaurant after buying a new fancy dancy dishwasher yesterday. It was $60 worth of food for free.

I hate to know this, because I'm so close to 30....but Tossing one's salad is a very dirty term with the young ones nowadays. Think of mouth, and where the salad eventually exits. MMM.....
Please do not think I'm a sicko...just watch the T shirt press...the saying is more potent than you knew!!

I'm a sicko too. I'm 28 and am famliar with that term as well as a few others... For my (imaginary) t-shirt or sticker, I would stick with the safer "Freedom from salads" and refrain from adding the term "tossing."

Here's another quote from you I love, "Things just randomly shoot out of my butt." Ha ha ha! For me, it was lettuce.

Anyway, I'm not a freak or anything, but there's quite a large group of DIYers where I live, making 'zines, buttons, and stickers, and what you say is so funny--how can I not envision "FREEDOM FROM SALADS FOREVER" on a bumper sticker?

Are you interested in having a penpal? If you're not, that's fine. I'm a bit wary of people myself.

I was feeling really blue...a combination of 1. no money as usual so I can't go to the garden show I was looking forward to this w/e, 2. being lax about taking my meds, inc. my a-d's and weirdly, 3. not having enough work to do at work!

I'm all fibro-ey atm...just got up knackered again after another night of major sweats and light sleep.

Re: My green monsters--or gorilla food. I eat them as soups or smoothies just as a green sauce, i.e. for the 'taters you mentioned--potatoe/green sundaes anyone?
That's one option. Do you like noodles? I love them with rice noodles/pastas, or most grains, i.e. fragrant rices, millet, quinoa--whatever, including veggies high in sf. Chard is great. I love using rainbow chard!!! Or mixing chard/spinach. You can combine just about any veg. with the greens if it suits your mood. Green bean/spinach, asparagus/spinach (or chard), zucchini works too. I personally detest kale--even the smell of it makes me gag. If you ever cook it, you'll totally understand why (it smells like pork) and collards affect me as broccoli does. If you feel soupy, i.e. the need to use a spoon, just use less water or broth/stock. They're great for chapati or tortillas or with rice crackers, dumplings, even zucchini sticks and mushrooms--use you're imagination. Totally easy on the body, very gentle--i.e. smooth and creamy and blended like a smoothie. I add fresh herbs, etc. Greens cook really fast. It's so funny--I was eating it the other day and I thought, this stuff looks like paint! You can do it with most any colour. I've even eaten it with cream of white rice!
They're the kind of sauce that you can just eat and eat and eat more later. They're very versatile. Some non-vegans have used them as fish sauces/chicken sauces or swirled into egg white omelettles, souffles, etc. They go down really nice and easy and smooth with some sf. Sometimes you just need to spoon feed yourself. Often, though, I eat them with a fork--they're creamy and totally blended and velvety smooth--and sf of my choice. Usually I leave the sf separate, i.e. do not blend it with the green monsters but eat it with the green monsters. I've even eaten them with boiled plaintain or banana. Seriously! For potatoe, I would keep the green separate from the potatoe but eat them in the same nutrition break.

swiss ball + obliques... new

Rudely butting in

A killer one for the obliques that I do on the ball is -- (now lets see if I can explain this well enough...) lie on the ball on your side with your feet on the floor, so you're kind of standing on the sides of your feet and your body is about at a 45 degree angle with your hip resting on the ball. Then you do crunches to the side - so you 'crunch' movement is like tilting to the side, targeting the obliques.

Oh I'm doing a horrible job of painting a picture here... so here's one I found on the web: http://www.netfit.co.uk/assets/abs_small_ok/121.jpg

I also do this at the gym on the hyperextension bench, usually with a weight or plate in my hand. Really feel that one in the obliques the next morning!

HTH!
