Not it's not free, but there is a 7 day money back guanrantee, so maybe you can try it for a week and if you don't like it get your money back?? I haven't used it. I'm looking for a site for myself that allows me to input food instead of giving me menus. i rarely make "recipe food", mostly I'll cook say...a chicken breast, peas, and rice, so I need something that I can use just basic food items. I'm still looking......

Hiya!

I dunno if you know this already or if it is what you are looking for, but I thought it would mention it just in case.
On this formula zone thing, there is a link called "Meal Designer". You go into it and type in what you want to make a meal out of.
So if I use chicken, rice and peas I put in chicken and get...
Like 50 hits. All kinds of chicken breast, cooked any which way with different sauces and stuff.
If I put in peas, I get...
12 hits. Frozen peas and carrots, canned, green peas, split peas...
If I put rice, there are tons of hits too.
Then you select the amount you want, and it then will say if it is or isn't balanced. I think normally it won't be for our diet. There is a link where it says 'Help me Balance this' and it will give you suggestions of things you could add to make up the balance.

Anyway, just thought I'd let you know!!
Cheers,
--Steph

Maybe I'll check it out again...I did like the site overall and found most of the info useful.....if only I was rich and had a nutritionist who could tell my gourmet chef what to cook for me each day. (SIGH)

I just went on formulazone, and they want me to eat 1043 cal a day to drop 8 pounds in the next few weeks. Does that seem low to anyone else? Not sure that's a healthy level for me to be at. I haven't signed up yet but I'm thinking about it. I really want to lose 10 pounds.

Maybe double check your activity level?? That does seem pretty low---for anyone! Do you care if I ask how much you weigh and how tall you are now?

Yeah I thought that was low too. I put my activity level at moderate, which I think is pretty accurate. I live in a city so I walk a lot, but I rarely go to the gym more than twice a week, if that. Right now I am just under 5'4", and I weigh 128. I looked a heck of a lot better at 120! I just wanna get back to that.

1043 seems way too low on the caloric intake for me... I've heard 1200 on average is the lowest to go. Do they tell you it's ok to binge on Saturdays or anything?

Well, hello twin body! I'm 5'4", and have been 128 and didn't like it much. Probably no one else notices it but you do right?? I'm at 119 now, and much happier. But since you and I seem close in shape/size, I'd say that's not enough calories. What did you put for your weight goal?? Fast weight loss? Moderate? If I were you'd I'd put in "Active" for activity, and see what that gives you.

I would say that's really not enough AT ALL. Most medical lit says that it's not safe/healthy for women to go below 1200 a day and even that should only be used in extreme cases where losing weight is necessary to the person's health (or survival). Also keep in mind that most medical lit also says that it's not safe/healthy to drop much more than 1 lb/week.

I did my own calculations for fun on formulazone and came up with a similarly disgustingly low calorie intake recommendation. Personally, I weight about 125 at 5'3", am fairly active, and really need 2000 calories a day. I'm not really trying to lose weight now but if I was I'd drop down to 1800ish.

There's a really good article that Alicia (HansSolo) posted not too long ago on this forum about why extreme calorie cutting diets are no good for weight loss - in that, they don't really work because most people just gain the weight back (with interest, so to speak) because by cutting calories you're slowing down your metabolism - i.e. your body's ability to burn calories. Here's the link: web page
