Hello, I'm new to posting but new to the boards. I've been lurking for quite a long while now and have learned quite a bit. I had IBS-C for most of my life which switched to IBS-D a few years ago, with lactose intolerance. In the beginning, normal things worked, diet, fiber, over the counter meds, now, it seems the longer I have it, the less works. Over the counter meds (Imodium, Kaopectate and Peptol) no longer work, even if I increase the dosage. I began an attack 4 days ago and have been on heathers diet to "stop" it and it is not working. I'm at my wits end! Mornings are great, but as the day wears on, it gets worse. I take the peppermint capsules, have plenty of soluble fiber, etc, etc. Its so frustrating, knowing I've only had it a few years. What about in 10 more? Am I going to have to wear diapers? geez

When your symptoms switched to D, did you get fully checked out again? It's important to make sure that nothing else is going on whenever you have a major change of symptoms (unless they go away of course! ) or if something like the diet suddenly stops working. Go pester your doc again...boring, but hey.

Have you only been on the diet for 4 days total? Cod that's not nearly enough, you know? STick at it.

What doses of Immodium have you tried?
