I may need your help though, everyone. What I'm going to do is basically post everything I eat on here at the end of each day. That way hopefully I'll be too embarrassed to live on potato chips and girl guide biscuits all the time, because I'll have to tell you about it!
I am at a healthy weight (although I have NO idea how), so I am not trying to lose or gain... just trying to get myself into the habit of eating good, balanced food. I am a very lazy and slovenly type, so it's all too easy to just eat junk all the time.

I'm going to start with what I've eaten today:

1 bagel with cream cheese and pesto (I know! Cream cheese! PESTO!)
2 cups peppermint tea
1 handful M&Ms (the kind where you get the plain, crispy and peanut all in one bag)
Most of a 130g bag of veggie chips (these are cassava flour chips, 21% fat, sour cream and chives flavour).
1 bottle bundaberg ginger beer. Not the diet kind.

I am making vegetable soup for dinner, so there'll be a bowl of that, and probably two girl guide biscuits. If Hamish doesn't finish them first.

I'm glad I got that off my chest. Tomorrow I'll be much better behaved, foodwise.

When DH is home I'm generally pretty healthy (although pretty IBS un safe!) but since he left I feel like all I've eaten is junk cause I just can't seem to be bothered to cook. I cook for the kids at 5pm (ewww! a mozzie just bit me! Sorry had to complain) but when it comes to me anything I can chuck in the oven and forget about for 20 minutes is just fine. My bodies getting a bit sick of it but I need to find the motivation. This is good reporting it though. Good luck, I hope it helps you.

Its funny I have ditched my unhealthy dinners since starting to report in. My way to keep "good" with easy food is to have a big bag of frozen stir fry veggies and some mushrooms in the fridge/freezer at all times. I love sweet chili sauces and I have a ten minute dinner of frozen stir fry veggies with ready cooked prawns and boil in the bag rice at least twice a week. Its easy and yummy. Find an easy yummy HEALTHY dinner and have the ingredients for it in your fridge so when you reach for bad things you'll eat it first. Or make a HUGE pot of veggie soup and before you reach for the tortillas have a cup of it first.

Before you have naughty snacks (like my THREE chocolate caramels I ate because they were near my desk at work ) stop, think and remember that you will have to admit you ate them. I recommend registering on fitday.com and entering your food there to watch how many calories you are consuming but also to look at your daily intake of nutrients. I find this so interesting and have found that I need a calcium supplement and also to get some vitamin D into me. The nutritional info has made me turn to tuna for lunch most days and now I eat fish or seafood at least once a day.

This is how it works for me!

Emma and Amy,

I'm also the slovenly type, but I would be so sick if I ate potato chips and girl Scout cookies. That's the only thing that keeps me from doing this. I survive on Italian bread, white rolls, Luna Bars, Clif bars, Soy cheese pizza and Quorn (a meat subtitute that's kind of like chicken) I can't remember the last time I ate fruit or veg. because I was having trouble with that. I am also underweight and I know I don't eat healthy, but I have so many other things to attend to that I just eat what doesn't seem to give me attacks and I'm afraid to branch out because I just don't have time (kids to take care of). Living a long life just seems such a nice theory, but I have a lot to do today and I can't do it if I'm chained to the toilet all day!

By the way, what's a mozzie?

Thanks Sinead. I just kept thinking about all the poisonous creatures that roam around in Australia (Well, according to my sister, who lives there now) and I was curious. Mosquitoes - we have those in the US too!

Okay, here's me for yesterday! I ended up getting tired and going to bed before I remembered to post this.

1 bagel (naked, untoasted, no topping)
2 feijoas
1 large bowl of homemade vegetable soup.

So I didn't eat much, but everything I did eat was okay food.

your diet kind of sounds like mine! pretty much everyday i eat vegan-pizza and recently since we've come across a vegan icecream, ive been eating that too! i make it my everyday goal to change that pattern b/c, as you feel, its just not healthy. somehow surprisingly im still a low weight, but im young so i want to change it for the future. i munch on fruit alot though too and keep up my teas and acacia so i only feel like im half-cheating hehe. anyways, im doing the same as you, trying to member to post my food days~and wanted to say good luck!

Today I was a bit bad, as I didn't go home after work...

I had:
1 Pacific Rose apple
1 bagel, untoasted, no topping (my bagels have onion, poppy seeds, sesame seeds and rock salt with molasses in the dough, they're really tasty. If you ever find yourself in Wellington, visit Wholly Bagels, they're great and I eat them almost every day!)

Dinner it all fell apart and I had fish'n'chips... and my naughty friend Liz talked me into a donut. She's going through depression right now, so I felt like I should support her in her donut-munching efforts..

OK, enough rationalising. Lemon on fried fish does NOT count as a fruit and ketchup does NOT count as a vegetable! Fun night though - I brought my laptop round to a friend's house to share my Desperate Housewives episodes with my nearest and dearest (it's not on telly here til June!)

Okay.....

1 muesli bar with carob on it
6 inch Subway - veggies only
1 small bag salt'n'vinegar chips
*um* Salad burger and chicken nuggets from McDonalds at 10.30 for dinner.

Totally calorie-free AND good for me: Stand-up comedy at Indigo! (hence the crap dinner at 10.30)

Crazy! Its a small wee world we live in. At least I think so - if thepurplelollie is the same one from biggie.co.nz?

I've officially been IBS for 2 days. lol. Went to a specialist - after months of complaining to my Dr - who finally told me what these pains etc were! What a relief - in a weird way..

YAY to Wholly Bagels - esp. to the new store near my work on Tory St. Fantastic to know that one can keep these in the diet - not so cool about the Coconut Milk bit - I'm a bit of a Curry Laksa fan.

Its not wrong - just different!

hey you! Yes, the very same.
Finally, another kiwi and a Wellingtonite at that! I'm a lot nicer on here than I am on biggie tho...

It's definitely a big adjustment, and I'm still not quite as good as I should be with it... but when I am I do notice the difference. I guess it's just nice to know that the thing that's wrong has a name and can be managed.

What a small world it is.
I tend to view biggie as my online fix of entertainment - esp the lounge - its like opening a chick magazine with people asking and talking about the strangest things.

I'm finding it really hard to change my diet - esp since I'm a sugarholic and Laksaholic.
