weighed in this morning and I lost another pound. So three gone, two to go.

Now, for today's report...
Breakfast: Porridge and fruit cup and honey
Lunch: Tortilla wrap with chicken and peppers and side salad
Snacks: a slice of Mars Kripies cake after lunch, after that I felt I had already blown it so I splurged on about 8 chocolates in the afternoon as we had a box at work AND a little pack of gummi bears... I was so sick to the stomach after that and didn't get home from work til 8.30 so I had a VERY light dinner.
Also had a cup of apple-raspberry juice
Dinner: Three slices toast and can of weightwatchers spaghetti

Water: on target

Activities: DIY for about 45 minutes. Had planned to go to the gym but work got in the way and I was too tired when I got out of work at 8pm to even consider the gym!

So despite splurging and without feeling hungry I have consumed 1839 calories.

The sums are as follows:

BMR 2299 + 65 activities - 1839 food= 525 less 500 to lose weight means that remarkably I am within budget.

I acknowledge that I have eaten very unhealthily today and promise to do better tomorrow, I will post in LR about my yucky day in general..funny that I am still within budget though!

BAD GIRL SINEAD STRUCK AGAIN LATER MESSING UP MY BUDGET, I have been so tired and fed up that I have been comfort eating and have been working late so have missed my gym classes

Hi, Here we go again.....

B - UFO beverage, Cherry Covered Chocolate Luna Bar, SFS,
Bagel with lite margarine
L - Chicken Sandwich w/mustard potato salad (1/2 c)
Grapefruit
S - "Lite" UFO (see my post in IBS Diet - there is a very interesting ingredient in this)
D - Greek *****, Grilled lamb, 1/2 piece of flatbread, sfs

Totals:
Food - 1517
Activity - 131
Bmr - 2166 - 131 = 2035 - 500 = 1535 food budget. I am 18 calories under budget.

OOOPS - I forgot to log in a glass of orange juice from yesterday 57 calories. This makes my total at 1317. I am still under my food budget by 218!

See ya tomorrow!

Take Care,

Karen

BMR (+ lifestyle) 1724 + exercise 108 = 1832 goal

Pre-breakfast: 2 tea biscuits (32)
Breakfast: oatmeal w/ banana, dry apple jacks (354)

AM Snacks: none!

Lunch: deep-dish chicken pot pie, slice of bread, leftover potatoes (445)

PM Snacks: more apple jacks, a few jellybeans (190)

Dinner: UFO beverage (200), a bunch of bread (300)

Dessert/Late Snacks: none!

Drinks: 4 big mugs teeccino w/ stevia & nondairy creamer (80), glass of water = 70oz

Food & drinks total: 1601

Activity:
30 min walk = 108

My eating ended up being pretty screwy today because suddenly, right before dinner, I ended up being queasy, for no good reason. So "dinner" ended up being bread and flat Coke, not at all what I was planning. I feel better now, but I'm about an hour from bedtime and don't want to eat anything else.

Well, better than yesterday, I muffed abit at the end.

6am:
Cinnamon Oatmeal (160 calories)

9am:
Nuts over Chocolate Luna (180 calories)

12noon:
Club Crackers (175 calories)

3pm:
Pretzels (100 calories)
Arrowroot Cookies (100 calories)

6pm:
Smoothie with banana, peanut butter, and soy milk (360 calories) I intended that to be my dinner, I was quite full after

Decided to eat dinner with my family, had a piece of sourdough with PB while waiting

a bit of lemon chicken and my one spoonful of veggies
a piece of sourdough with veggie parmesean

Then...2 ADB

I've simply got to learn that I can't handle so much food at one time...

Total: About 1750 calories (lost track a bit during dinner).
And that's a pretty good total...I just can't eat it all at once like that.

Did quite well with water today though, 160 oz thus far

Hi Shell,

Let me know how your session with your new trainer goes! Sounds like you are doing some a kick-butt job lately... well, always but I am still very impressed!!

I dunno if you saw my other post, but my mom got 4 free sessions with a personal trainer at her gym but she already HAS a trainer, so she is giving the sessions to me.
I think I will try and use the first one this coming Sunday ('cause I have agreed to go to the gym with my mom on Sundays) so let me know how yours goes, and maybe let me know what you think I should say to mine if there is something particularly that you found helpful or something.

As always, very proud of you!!

*big hugs*

Thanks.

A bit gurgly and gassy, but not too bad. I felt really good until this evening (post dinner), so that was nice. Some D this morning that made it hard to get out the door, but once that was out, I actually felt pretty good!

Yeah...I'm right proud of the water intake. I try to make an effort at it, especially on D days (hehe). So I was thinking about it today, but when I was counting up the water bottles this evening, I was shocked. I didn't think a person could ever drink that much without floating away, but it seemed pretty natural. I'll try to make a habit of it. It's probably a sign that I am a bit dehydrated from the D, because if I have a water bottle, I'm drinking it!

I'll try to maintain as well as I did today, especially with the water, and just clean up the evening hours a bit for tomorrow. But certainly Progress!!!

Karen, you are cutting yourself short- you ADD the amount of activity calories to the food budget not take them away, so you had way more of a surplus than you think

Hi!
I'm new to the boards, and I have a lot of questions.
Looking at all of your posts, this seems like a really compfortable place to start. I was on Weight Watchers, and have really had to modify my eating since my diagnosis two weeks ago. I guess I have had IBS for a long time, but I have so much to learn!!!
Right now I'm just trying to make lists of things I can prepare and eat...
I see Luna bars on many of your posts, are those safe?
Do you have favorite recipes that you use often?
I'm trying to continue loosing weight, without the D I have been having due to my IBS.

Any help you can offer would be welcomed.
Thanks for being here. I'm so glad I am not alone.

Welcome. For help with the diet and what to eat, visit the EATING for IBS board. There's tons of posts on lots of topics. Also read through the dietary guidelines written there. It will give you a compass to get yourself going in the right direction.
For tons of recipes that you can safely eat, visit the RECIPE board.
For weight loss and healthy lifestyle stuff, post here. Most people (and it's totally up to you) report in what they're eating for the day (calories, ww points, whatever) just as a checking in and accountability point. I'm currently on weight watchers so if you need some help modifying, let me know. It's a bit tricky because all the soluble fibre foods we need are like 4 points each!!!! It can be a bit of a challenge.
Lastly, we're glad you're here. Make yourself at home.

Hello all, Happy Spring!!! It is supposed to be 70 DEGREES here today - too bad I am stuck inside! Stupid work! If it weren't for that whole paycheck thing . . . anyway, here's Tuesday:

Breakfast - oatmeal made w/soymilk (1/2 serv), dried apricots, 1 c OJ w/fiber, mint tea (372)
Snack - banana, UFO beverage (233)
Lunch - Tomato soup, asiago bagel, oyster crackers (549)
Snack - baby carrots (57)
Dinner - Frontega Chicken Panini (Panera - this would be a UFO for most) - 680 (WHOA!)
Dessert - UFO Easter candy (150)

Excercise - 1 hr pilates class

Water - prob 70 oz

So anyone notice that my calories were WAAAAAY high today? 2213 from food-150 from pilates=2063! Man, that sandwich did me in! Good thing it is not a regular occurance But regardless I never FELT like I had eaten too much so I guess that's good. Hope to be back in the ~1500 calorie range today. But I am going to the Pistons game tonight which means no workout and limited healty food options for dinner. Oh well. I am taking my 7-yr-old cousin for his BD, he is a big fan it is so cute!

Are you sure that pilates only burned 150 calories for an hour? That seems low to me... even yoga burns more than that, and granted, I've never done pilates, but I was under the impression that it was more physical and strenuous than yoga. Correct me if I'm wrong.

Have fun at the game!!!

Thanks Linz! Still though, need to keep this up or maintain the weight rather than completely pigging out before the wedding. I was off chocolate completely from august to Christmas but at the moment I am eating lots of it
They had Black Magic chocs at work today, I never actually ate them before but the lemon and raspberry ones are to die for...so I ate three of each!

Chocolate doesn't agree with me unless seriously in moderation(smelly gas )

And the chips....well I think they were the reason I couldn't get to sleep til 3am (and had to be up by 7 as had a presentation to give at 9)

Still though..thanks for the kind words...back on the wagon tomorrow I promise (but going out for dinner) and Friday I have a black tie dinner in honour of my cousin so that will be standard dinner dance fare (BTW its in the hotel where we are getting married, I really hope its IBS friendly or I will have to be vegan!)

Most hotels and caterers seem to be pretty accomodating when it's comes to weddings! So just talk to them and maybe come up with a list of suggestions so they don't get blank minds from all the stuff you CAN'T eat!

there's a cod option and a salmon one which will be grand on the wedding day, just wondering about the function on Friday night. I will definitely give them very clear instructions for the wedding, I will be paying enough to get bossy!

Yeah, I guess that is kinda confusing! I haven't really set a food budget yet and I haven't calculated my BMR. So mainly I just try to keep track of how many calories I'm taking in and how many I burn through excercise. Guess I should really be looking at the big picture so I can count ALL the calories I burn per day, not just the excercise ones! Thanks for noting that!

Casey - thanks, we did have fun at the game, especially since they WON! I'm totally just guessing at the calories from pilates - it's not listed as an activity on fitday and I haven't looked anywhere else to try to get an accurate number. Just lazy I guess Do you know of a site that lists this sort of thing? I would be thrilled if it did burn more calories than I am thinking! But I am sure it differs from class to class - probably yoga is the same, but I've never done yoga. I just didn't feel like I got a calorie-inferno pilates workout the other night . . .

weighed in this morning and I lost another pound. So three gone, two to go. Yah!! Happy Dance!!

I was so sick to the stomach after that and didn't get home from work til 8.30 so I had a VERY light dinner. try not giving in so easy sweetie....even if you DO cheat a little does not mean you have to keep going...just means you need to go for a walk or something to burn them caloires off!! Better luck to ya!!

Wonderful!!

I acknowledge that I have eaten very unhealthily today and promise to do better tomorrow, I will post in LR about my yucky day in general..funny that I am still within budget though!

BAD GIRL SINEAD STRUCK AGAIN LATER MESSING UP MY BUDGET, I have been so tired and fed up that I have been comfort eating and have been working late so have missed my gym classes {{smack smack}} there is your punishment... now just get your butt to the gym the rest of the week!!

Bagel with lite margarine
L - Chicken Sandwich w/mustard potato salad (1/2 c) that sounds good

BMR (+ lifestyle) 1724 + exercise 108 = 1832 goal

Pre-breakfast: 2 tea biscuits (32)
Breakfast: oatmeal w/ banana, dry apple jacks (354)

AM Snacks: none!

Lunch: deep-dish chicken pot pie YUM , slice of bread, leftover potatoes (445)

PM Snacks: more apple jacks, a few jellybeans (190)

Dinner: UFO beverage (200), a bunch of bread (300) I love that....not a piece or a slice, but a bunch!! hehehe

Dessert/Late Snacks: none!

Drinks: 4 big mugs teeccino w/ stevia & nondairy creamer (80), glass of water = 70oz

Food & drinks total: 1601

Activity:
30 min walk = 108 great

My eating ended up being pretty screwy today because suddenly, right before dinner, I ended up being queasy, for no good reason. So "dinner" ended up being bread and flat Coke, not at all what I was planning. I feel better now, but I'm about an hour from bedtime and don't want to eat anything else. Hope your feeling better now... I will see you next reports...

Hi Shell,

Let me know how your session with your new trainer goes! Sounds like you are doing some a kick-butt job lately... well, always but I am still very impressed!! Will do.... if it is going to be anything like Tues night Power Sculpt class..then I'm in deep doo doo... LOL I might regret this... LOL I start on the 9th!

I dunno if you saw my other post, but my mom got 4 free sessions with a personal trainer at her gym but she already HAS a trainer, so she is giving the sessions to me. WONDERFUL!!
I think I will try and use the first one this coming Sunday ('cause I have agreed to go to the gym with my mom on Sundays) great so let me know how yours goes, and maybe let me know what you think I should say to mine if there is something particularly that you found helpful or something. just tell them your goals, the areas that trouble you. But also tell them you don't wanna be a "lifer" meaning you want to LEARN how to do these workouts on your own (pay them to show you, in your case they are free) but you don't want a training for ever and ever hence them getting to to spend more money. You want to be taught...so you can take it to the floor on your own.

As always, very proud of you!! Thanks!!

*big hugs*
