Has anyone tried low dose naltrexone for IBS? I've read of two studies that show it to be effective in 3/4 of the patients to tried it -- both for pain and bowel function. Also, a friend of mine who is an anesthesiologist at Mayo mentioned to me that it was being used for IBS. I hope someone has some experience to report. Thanks.

Looking at it's side effects, I'm surprised. Have you got any links to the studies?

I did a search through Google and Medscape. Google turned up several reports in the media about the results of the first two studies. I also called gastroenterology research centers to find out more about tests currently being done. A research center in Portland, Oregon told me that they were getting positive outcomes with pain and bloating in their current study.
