Hi everyone. I am considering buying a scale. Before I weighed in at my WW meetings or at the grocery store. I am a little scared to get my own. What do you all think & what kinds are good?

I think you get what you pay for with scales.

I bought my scale - which is from the '50s and baby pink, by the way - at a thrift store for $1. Would you believe it's the most accurate scale I've ever owned?

I'm a firm believer that digital scales aren't worth it, but that's probably because I'm hopelessly old-fashioned and believe that the more electronic something is, the more opportunity you have for something to break. LOL!

Hi,
My DH bought me a digital scale for Christmas (Yes I wanted it). It is made from Conair (I think) but it is marketed for WeighWatchers. It tracks both of us, and registers in increments of 0.1. It is easy to read too (the downfall of our old dial one was that I could not read it). It was about 50.00 at Linens N Things, but I think there is one model for 40.00.

What a great find Casey!

I don't own a scale. I'm not really trying to lose lots of weight, just a little bit, but I don't weigh myself at the gym either. I personally don't think how much you weigh is a really good indicator of progress. You could be gaining muscle and losing fat and that number of the scale isn't going down - which could be discouraging, despite the fact that you're making progress. I think fitting into those pants again, noticing your body looks tighter, noticing you FEEL better - those are better idicators... But that's just my two cents

That said, if I saw a 1950s pink scale in a thrift shop for $1 - I would buy in in a heartbeat!

One thing I would love to do when in England is go to a auction like on Cash in the Attic or Bargain Hunter. I can't believe the antiques get sold for so little! We have the cruddiest antiques here in MN. Anything nice is mega bucks! I can't believe how cheap you can get old furniture or paintings and stuff. If only I could bring some furniture home with me!
