Ok.. so I went on fitday.com and I signed up. My BMI is 1780 ... what exactly does that mean?

should I eat 1780 calories a day.. or less than that to lose weight.. and how much less than that. Sorry I'm new to this!

thats how much you need to eat to maintain the weight you are at now. however, i wouldn't trust online tests to tell you info...thats the body mass index correct?? that way of looking at weight is a little out dated too

in addition...lol..you want to know your resting metebolic rate....thats the most accurate that i know of that is easlily accessible. that can tell you almost exactly how many calories you burn through out the day without even moving...just to keep your body functioning

1780 is what your body is using just by living.... now to lose weight you will need less then that..other wise you will just maintain your current weight.

So, 1780 + exercise (i.e. 325 calories) - (i.e. 500 calories to lose weight) = (i.e. your food budget would be 1605 calories) Now, that number will change daily depending on your exercise..... just don't consume more in calories then you burn. Does that help?

If you want....email me shell1970@aol.com with your current weight, age, highth and what you want your end weight to be and by what time.... I can tell you approx how many less caloires to need.

Hehe... you mean BMR (basal metabolic rate) right? That's what people have been describing (how much your bodies need to function, min amount of calories you need)

You're BMI is your body mass index, and tells you if you're in a healthy weight range or not. That's a number probably more like 20 or 30! (you can calculate that here if you want!) LOL... if your BMI was 1700 you'd be a giant!
